MONTGOMERY — Two varsity baseball seasons saw two berths in the AISA semifinals for Hope Christian.

The Saints fell to Lakeside 8-7 and 11-2 in Wednesday’s best-of-3 semifinal series at Montgomery’s Paterson Field.

Hope finished 18-11, with five losses coming to Lakeside, including two one-run games and a two-run spread. This season marked the Saints’ last in AISA season before transitioning to AHSAA ball next season.

“Unbelievable season, boys,” Hop coach Roby Brooks said. “We played some of the best teams in the nation and battled against legit SEC-level arms all year long. Through it all, we competed our tails off and played the game the right way — hard, fast, and together.

“What makes this team special isn’t just wins and losses. It’s the brotherhood. We truly became one big family. We work hard, we love hard, and we fight for each other every single day.

“Hope Christian Baseball is trending up fast, and it’s an honor and privilege to be a part of building something special here. The foundation has been laid. The culture is growing. And this is only the beginning. Great things are coming for Hope Christian.”

Caden Marturello went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in Wednesday’s first game, and Aziah Amberson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.

Cayden Slick went 2-for-4 with two runs, and Kainen Bozeman had a single and two runs.

The game came down to J Folds’ walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Kingston Eagle went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the second game, and Amberson went 2-for-4 with a run.
