Piedmont softball victorious in extra innings. Munford, Ranburne and Westbrook Christian win in baseball.

Going around the horn with Wednesday’s light schedule of area high school softball and baseball:
Softball
PIEDMONT 5, GLENCOE 4: Anna Hase’s sacrifice fly to score Kaelyn Greene in the top of the eighth inning stood up as the winning run, and Piedmont improved to 4-9-2.
Hase went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Piedmont got a single and RBI apiece from Nakia Bothwell and Callie Faulkner. Cadence Buttram doubled and scored a run.
Faulkner pitched all eight innings, spreading out seven hits, two earned runs and three walks with seven strikeouts.
Glencoe’s Victoria Romano had a double, a run and an RBI, and Andeemae Skinner had a double and a run. Evelyn Nowak and Anna Kate Alred each had a single and an RBI.
Baseball
MUNFORD 6, CLEBURNE COUNTY 1: Braydon Nichols struck out 11 batters and allowed two hits over five innings, and Munford improved to 3-5. Relievers Landon Gallahair (four) and B.J. Anderson (one) added another five strikeouts to give the Lions a combined 16.
Gallahair went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run, and Christian Fisher went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Cleburne County (3-4) got a single apiece from Cade Shubert and Brayden Maduro.
RANBURNE 9, HANDLEY 5: Ranburne’s James Ward went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and C Loren had a double and two RBIs.
The Bulldogs also got a single, a run and an RBI apiece from Asher Brown and Logan Carter, and Owen Henderson had a single and two runs.
Rance Merrill got the win, allowing five hits, four earned runs and four walks with two strikeouts over five innings.
Handley’s Cordan Patterson went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Alex Busbin went 2-for-2 with a run.
WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 9, ASHVILLE 2: Brodie Johnson went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Westbrook upped to 6-5.
Brady Ryan went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Brady Carden went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI. Jacob Maples went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Bo Kilgo went 1-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Johnson spread out eight hits and two walks over seven innings, struck out six batters and allowed two earned runs.
