JACKSONVILLE — Rocco Maniscalco has never known what it’s like to not win the Calhoun County baseball tournament, and the senior Mississippi State signee and Major League draft prospect never will.
Third-year Oxford coach Travis Janssen has yet to experience the runner up’s dugout.
Thanks to big innings in the semifinal against Jacksonville and the championship game against Piedmont, the Yellow Jackets never had to worry Tuesday.
Oxford blew the championship game open with a six-run bottom of the sixth inning and downed Piedmont 9-0 to claim the Yellow Jackets’ fifth consecutive Calhoun County baseball championship.
