Alexandria, WP boys win in thrillers. Munford 7-1 after beating Anniston. Faith boys top Donoho, but Donoho’s girls get first win since 2020. Jacksonville girls top Alexandria. JCA and Weaver sweep. Ranburne girls victorious.

ALEXANDRIA — Cole Wheeler hit two 3-pointers on the way to 20 points, and Alexandria’s boys edged Jacksonville 56-54 on Thursday.
The Valley Cubs (2-2) got nine points apiece from M.J. Morris and Ryan Lewis.
Jacksonville’s Kamouri Harmon poured in a game-high 28 points, including three 3-pointers, and pulled down seven rebounds. Braylon Kelley hit four threes on the way to 14 points.
Wheeler hit two free throws to put Alexandria up 56-53 with 12 seconds left, setting the stage for Jacksonville’s final possession. Harmon got fouled on a three-point shot, made the first free throw and missed the second with one second left.
After a timeout, Harmon threw a line drive off of the backboard, and time expired during the scramble for the rebound.
MUNFORD 59, ANNISTON 48: Joshua Smith hit three 3-pointers on the way to 19, and Munford improved to 7-1, the Lions’ best start in more than 25 years.
Marquel Johnson added 15 points for Munford, and Kendarius Hickman scored 12.
Anniston, playing its season opener, got 20 points from Kyree Lewis, 11 from Faheem Dothard, 10 points from Dakyus Baker. Lewis hit four 3-pointers, and Dothard hit three.
WHITE PLAINS 53, PIEDMONT 52: Bryson Cheatwood hit nine of 10 free throws on the way to 24 points, and White Plains (7-3) prevailed despite Rollie Pinto’s halfcourt shot at the end of the third quarter and Taylon Swain’s halfcourt shot at the end of the game.
They key possession saw White Plains score seven points in one fourth-quarter trip. Cheatwood hit all four free throws after a foul and a technical foul on Piedmont, and Crew Martin hit a 3-pointer to cap the trip.
White Plains’ Harmon Cobb added nine points, and Martin scored six of his eight points in the fourth quarter.
Pinto scored all 12 of his points in the second half to pace Piedmont. Swain added 10, and Mason Morrow scored nine. Swain and Morrow hit two threes apiece.
FAITH CHRISTIAN 53, DONOHO 50: Parker Robertson led Faith with 22 points, hitting all five of his free throws and one 3-pointer.
Colin Anderson scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half, including two 3-pointers.
Donoho’s Ethan Crawford hit four 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 26 points.
The game marked first-year Donoho coach Cory Hughes’ return to Faith, his former team.
WEAVER 36, RANDOLPH COUNTY 33: D.J. Marbury led the Bearcats with 16 points, and J.C. Reeves added six.
Randolph County’s Christopher Johnson scored a game-high 17 points.
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 69, WELLBORN 37: Noah Lee paced JCA (5-2) with 18 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Anthony Gooch added 14 points. Jack Henry Harris added 10 points and five rebounds, and Bryson Dowdey chipped in nine points, six steals and five rebounds.
Girls
JACKSONVILLE 61, ALEXANDRIA 52: Jayci Taykor scored a game-high 26 points to go with eight rebounds, and Jacksonville improved to 8-1.
Neveah Nicholson hit two 3-pointers on the way to 18 points, and Ontarriah Braxton had six points, six rebounds and six assists.
Cali Hess paced Alexandria with 16 points. Charlee Parris and Zoey Wilson added 12 apiece, and Kate Wheeler hit two 3-pointers to account for her six points.
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 64, WELLBORN 14: Addy Lee led JCA (7-0) with 16 points. She also had four rebounds.
Mollie Mullinax turned in 15 points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists. Modasti Carr had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Modasti Carr added eight points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists.
DONOHO 35, FAITH CHRISTIAN 34: Bentlee Pahman scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half, and Donoho’s girls got their first victory since 2020.
This marks the Falcons’ first varsity girls’ season since they went winless in 2020-21.
Taylor Worley added 12 points.
Faith’s Emma Shaw scored a game-high 17 points, hitting four 3-pointers, and Ella Kate Hegeman added 14.
WEAVER 43, RANDOLPH COUNTY 34: Aliyanh Marks hit 11 of 13 free throws on the way to 22 points, and Weaver won in area play.
Kimora Miles added 10 points, and Charlee Diamond hit two 3-pointers to account for her six points.
Lizzie Milam and Lydia Parmer led Randolph County with 11 points apiece.
RANBURNE 41, HARALSON COUNTY (Ga.) 36: Ranburne’s Tinley Phillips poured in 24 points, including three 3-pointers. She also hit all nine of her free throws.
Maranda Ralston hit two 3-pointers to account for her six points.
