Munford, Pleasant Valley boys continue hot starts. JCA, Faith Christian, Hope boys victorious. Taylor has big night for Jacksonville girls, and Ranburne opens area play with a victory.

HANDLEY — Before Michael Easley finishes his time at Munford, he just might deliver a memorable basketball season.
Josh Smith led the way with 16 points, and Munford downed Handley 44-40 on the road Tuesday to continue the Lions’ best start in recent memory.
Munford is 6-1 and opened area play with a victory.
Easley announced his resignation as the school’s head football coach Sunday. Also the head boys’ basketball coach, he’ll finish off the season before moving on.
Munford also got 10 points from Marquel Johnson.
Elijah Stegal scored a game-high 19 points.
PLEASANT VALLEY 67, GASTON 29: Speaking of hot starts, Pleasant Valley opened area play with a victory Tuesday and improved to 5-0 overall under first-year head coach Marcus Herbert.
Jake Barnwell led the Raiders with 17 points. Mason Myers had 13, and Braxton Salster finished with 10.
Silas Holland led Gaston with nine points.
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 62, GAYLESVILLE 31: Noah Lee turned in 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and five steals, and JCA improved to 4-2.
Anthony Gooch scored 22 points with four assists and three rebounds.
FAITH CHRISTIAN 61, COOSA CHRISTIAN 42: Faith’s Colin Anderson sank five 3-pointers on the way to 22 points. He broke loose for 18 points in the second half, including all of his 3-pointers.
Parker Robertson turned in 16 points, and Dylan Rogers added 15.
Jaden Butler paced Coosa Christian with 16 points, and Sam Reeves added 11.
HOPE CHRISTIAN 54, PINEVIEW 51: Kailub Sparks paced Hope with 14 points. He also had four rebounds and two steals.
Javon Vinson turned in 13 points, six rebounds and three steals, and Carter Slick paired nine points with seven steals.
ASHVILLE 64, JACKSONVILLE 61: Ashville’s J.B. Potter scored a game-high 25 points, and Parker Smith added 14.
Kamouri Harmon paced Jacksonville (5–3) with 24 points and six steals. Ben Pridgen added 14 and 13 rebounds.
Girls
JACKSONVILLE 69, ASHVILLE 35: Jayci Taylor hit five 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 31 points to lead Jacksonville (7-1). She also had six steals and five rebounds.
Neveah Nicholson hit three treys on the way to 21 points, and the added six rebounds and six steals.
Ontarriah Braxton contributed 10 points and four steals.
Ashville got 12 points from Maddie Sanders.
RANBURNE 61, CENTRAL-COOSA 17: Ranburne’s Tinley Phillips hit three 3-pointers on the way to matching Central-Coosa’s 17 points.
Maranda Ralston added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and Kallie Burson scored 11 points.
