ANNISTON — Tommy Miller paused Thursday to count his seasons.

Not seasons of life, though Jacksonville Christian’s long-time multisport coach and principal has lived plenty of those, but seasons he’s coached football in Calhoun County.

It started in 1977, when he served as an assistant coach on Ohatchee’s Class 1A state-title team.

“First team in the county to win the state playoffs,” he recalls fondly.

It’s hard to imagine a sideline or dugout without Tommy Miller, but not quite as hard after his appearance Thursday’s Calhoun County Quarterback Club Media Day.

Coming off of an Alabama Christian Athletics Association championship, and nearing grandson Noah Lee’s senior season at quarterback, Miller raised the possibility that the 2025 season could be his last.
