Piedmont ousted in AAA

TROY — There will be a new champion in the Dixie Youth AAA state tournament this year as defending champion Piedmont was eliminated Tuesday by host Troy 16-0.
Troy scored six runs in the first inning, eight in the second and two in the third.
Piedmont mustered only three hits and five base-runners in the four-inning game. Troy took advantage of eight hits and 11 walks; every player except one in its lineup scored at least one run.
