Spring roundup

Fresh off of county softball title, Alexandria tops another county power, and Ohatchee victorious. Hope Christian, Ranburne win in baseball.

Going around the horn on Monday’s area high school baseball and softball:

Softball

ALEXANDRIA 6, WHITE PLAINS 2: Jacee Brooks had a double and two RBIs, and Cali Hess had a single and two RBIs as Alexandria (24-8) backed up its most recent Calhoun County softball title with a victory over another county power.

Katelyn Robertson went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Ryan Lumpkin went 2-for-3, and Baylee Elston went 2-for-4.

Reece Carr got the win, allowing three hits, four walks and two earned runs with eight strikeouts in seven innings.

White Plains’ Carli Fritts homered with two RBIs, and Sara Kate Adams singled and scored a run. Emma Tidwell hit a double. 

OHATCHEE 7, WEAVER 0: Makayla Brackett pitched a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts, and Ohatchee improved to 21-8. She also had a single and an RBI.

Madison Mize went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Reese Steward went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Weaver’s Ariel Sargent hit a double.

SPRING GARDEN 5, GAYLSVILLE 4: Maya Jnnings’ RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning gave Spring Garden the lead, and the Panthers improved to 7-16. She finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Olivia Messer hit a solo home run, and Paisley Woodall had a single and an RBI. Kylie Bates hit a triple.

Kendall Birchfield pitched a three-hitter with three strikeouts.

HOKES BLUFF 4, SAND ROCK 3: Alexis Colvard went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Hokes Bluff improved to 18-13. Lainey Kate Beggs went 2-for-3.

Lacey Grace Hall pitched a perfect inning of relief with one strikeout, and she had a double and two runs. Rylee HIll spread out seven hits, three earned runs and one walk with one strikeout in six innings

BENJAMIN RUSSELL 15, CENTRAL-CLAY 13: Central-Clay (8-14) had plenty of offense, with  Ensleigh Giddens going 2-for-5 with a triple, four RBIs and a run.

Lily McCain went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Addie Wesley went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Lauryn Reed and Ava Adams each went 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Analyssa Harris had a single and an RBI.

Baseball

HOPE CHRISTIAN 8, COOSA VALLEY 6: Kingston Eagle went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Hope improved to 14-7.

Caden Marturello went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Kainen Bozeman had a double and two runs.

Eagle got the win, allowing six hits, three earned runs and two walks with eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Cayden Slick came on to get the final two outs, including one strikeout.

RANBURNE 9, HORSESHOE BEND 4: Drew Davenport had a triple and two RBIs, and Ranburne reached 20-8-1 on the season.

Logan Carter went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Carson Jones, Aiden Jackson and Asher Brown each had a single, an RBI and a run, and Carter Loren had a double and a run.

Davenport got the win, allowing six hits, three walks and no earned runs with four strikeouts in six innings.
