HOOVER — Injuries slowed the start to Faith Chrisitan’s volleyball season, but the Lions added a new title Thursday … North Super Regional champion.

Faith beat Mars Hill Bible 3-1 in Thursday’s Private A North Super Regional final in Hoover’s Finley Center and will advance to next week’s state tournament as the North’s No. 1 qualifier. The Lions will play South No. 4 Mobile Christian on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Birmingham CrossPlex.

Faith, which played without Annie Ricard and Kaylee Norton early in the season, won the Area 6 title as a No. 3 seed last week.

The regional title marked Faith’s first. The 2018 team that made the Class 1A semifinals was the North 3 qualifier.

“I thought that Mars Hill was a very well coached competitive team,” Faith coach Michaella Edwards said. “Our girls had to fight for every point we had.

“I thought the girls did a great job trusting each other and bouncing back after a mistake after that first set was finished. Every single girl stepped up and got the job done, and that’s why we won, because it was a good team win!”

Donoho fell to Athens Bible 1-3 on Thursday and will hold the North’s No. 4 seed and will play South championship winner betweem Montgomery Christian and Prattville Christian on Tuesday at 1:?0 p.m.
