Oxford, Piedmont and Pleasant Valley among winners in baseball, and Ranburne has big day at the plate in doubleheader. PV, Piedmont among winners in softball.

Going around the horn with Tuesday’s area high school softball and baseball:

Baseball

OXFORD 8-16, OAK MOUNTAIN 3-6: Ayden Noyola allowed two hits and four strikeouts in four innings in the first game, and Oxford (17-8) went on to sweep.

Rocco Maniscalco went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple, three RBIs and two runs. Chase Williams we went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Asa Burns went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Bryson Bradford went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and Canaan Whitman had a double and an RBI.

Maniscalco went 1-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs in the second game, and Charlie Maniscalco went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and a run.

Bradford went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Burns contributed three runs and two RBIs, and Williams went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Marcus Lawler went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. 

PIEDMONT 8, OHATCHEE 0: Cole Austin and Ethan Mallett combined to hold Ohatchee to three hits, and Piedmont improved to 16-5. 

Austin allowed two hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in four innings. Mallett worked three innings, allowing one hit with two walks and six strikeouts.

Austin went 3-for-3 with a double, and Jaxon Howard went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Brenan Hurst went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

PLEASANT VALLEY 12, SAND ROCK 11: Landon Beason took one for the team when he was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning, plating the game–winning run, and Pleasant Valley improved to 12-5.

Peyton Mann went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, and Dallas Roper had a single, three RBIs and a run. 

Wesley Wheeler went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Cooper Dougal went 2-for-3 with two runs, and Nic Acker went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

RANBURNE 18-21, HOLLY POND 0-3: Ranburne (17-5-1) amassed a combined 35 hits in the doubleheader, 20 in the second game.

Ashet Brown went 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs in the first game, and J Ward went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run. Kaleb Daniel had a double and two RBIs.

Carter Loren had a triple, an RBI and a run, and Drew Davenport had a double and a run.

Colton Johnson led the way in the second game, going 4-for-4 with a double, four runs and two RBIs. Davenport went 2-for-2 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs.

Lane Benefield went 2-for-2 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs, and Logan Carter had a double and two RBIs.

Rance Merrill pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts in five innings in the first game.

CENTRAL-CLAY 1, SHELBY COUNTY 0: Braden Sprayberry pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts, and Kaiden Glenn drove in the game’s lone run with a fifth-inning single as the Vols rose to 9-6.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 5, WHITE PLAINS 1: Owen Jacoway and Adam Griffith each had a single, a run and an RBI, and Cherokee County picked up an area win while rising to 9-11.

Cam Mayo pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts.

White Plains’ Walker Edwards had an RBI, and Elijah Turner had a single and a run. Jacob Stamm pitched a perfect three innings of relief with three strikeouts.

SPRING GARDEN 28, FAITH CHRISTIAN 2: Led by Ben Baker, Spring Garden amassed 23 hits and improved to 8-10 with an area victory.

Baker went 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple, six RBIs and three runs, and Zack Scogin went 2-for-3 with a triple, six RBIs and four runs.

Hayes Guthrie went 3-for-4 three RBIs and three runs. Dawson Ellzey went 2-for-4 with a double with four runs and two RBIs, and Brady Ruark went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.

Zane Edwards went 3-for-5 a triple, a double, three runs and an RBI. Clayton Sadler went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Joel Hunter went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs.

Baker got the win, allowing three hits, one earned run and no walks with six strikeouts in three innings.

Faith’s Paul Kaiser had a single and an RBI, and Levi Wells had a double and a run.

LINCOLN 4, JACKSONVILLE 3: Lincoln scored two runs in the first inning and two in the third and fought off Jacksonville’s three-run rally in the sixth.

Charles Ramsey went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, and Charles Wooduff went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Aiden Trammel got the win, allowing five hits, three earned runs and two walks with eight strikeouts.

Jacksonville’s Luke Richardson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and John Ducar went 2-for-3 with a run.

Jacksonville is 9-11.

CEDAR BLUFF 12, DONOHO 7: Cedar Bluff’s Bryant Gravley went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Layden Bradley went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.

Hunter Mobbs went 2-for-5, and Kadien Tracy went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Fischer Young had two RBIs.

Donoho’s Sam Montgomery went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and Owen Watts went 3-for-5 with a run. Popham went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.   

HOKES BLUFF 9, GLENCOE 1: Tanner Rutledge homered while going 2-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs, and Hokes Bluff rose to 13-9.

Preston Griffith went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Bryce Whitaker went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs. Bray Bearden went 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

Micah Brasher got the win, holding Glencoe to two hits with nine strikeouts in six innings.

Glencoe (6-8) got an RBI from Jacob Loftis.

SOUTHSIDE 15, REVERE 4: Colt Smith hit a grand slam, and Southside upped to 11-9.

Eli Stewart went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Ethan Sarratt went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Shelby Houston went 2-for-3 with a run, and Carson McGraw went 1-for-1 with three runs and an RBI.

WOODLAND 14, WADLEY 7: Paxton Gowens went 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. and Woodland rose to 4-6.

Jackson Smith went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, and Tripp Morin went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Garrett Hendrix went 1-for-3 with a double and three runs, and Rackley Everett went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.
Smith pitched two perfect innings of relief with two strikeouts.

Wadley’s Jaylon Marable went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Damarious Spraddling went  1-for-3 with a double and two runs.

Softball

PLEASANT VALLEY 9, JACKSONVILLE 6: Lilly Robinson went 2-for-5 with three RBIs, and Pleasant Valley upped to 10-16.

Elise Wheeler had a single, two RBIs and a run, and Ava Denham went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI. Alexa Cranmer went 2-for-5 with three runs and an RBI, and Charlee Grogan went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Cailey Almaroad went 2-for-4.

Denham got the win, allowing two hits, two walks and no earned runs with a strikeout in one inning.

Jacksonville’s Ava Snead went 2-for-4 with three runs, and Chloe Lockett went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Alyssa Barnes went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Jaylen Huntley had a double and an RBI. Ana Strain had a triple and an RBI.

PIEDMONT 11, SAKS 0: Callie Faulkner pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts, and Piedmont rose to 7-10-2.

Amarae Champion went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs, and Kaelyn Greene went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Nakia Bothwell went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI.

Anna Hase and Ellie Tolbert each had a single, a run and an RBI.

MOODY 5, WHITE PLAINS 4: Ansley Prichard went 2-for-3 with a run, and Carleigh-Anne Green went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. 

Carli Fritts went 2-for-4 with an RBI and allowed four hits, no walks and one earned run with two strikeouts in 3 1/3  innings.

Kinsleigh Gross pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits, two walks and one earned run with two strikeouts.

White Plains is 18-13.  

LINCOLN 10, LEEDS 4: Aubrey Machen went 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBIs and three runs, and Lincoln improved to 13-6.

Chandler Stephens went 1-for-1 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs.

Cameron Pruitt went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, three RBIs and three runs, and Kalia Fowles went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Shelby Williams pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts.  

PELL CITY 3, OXFORD 1: Ally Mosley got the win in area play, allowing one hit with four strikeouts in four innings.

Briley Goodgame went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Aubrey Tucker went 2-for-3 with a run. Kherington Keith had a single and a run.

Oxford (12-7) got a solid outing from Jayla Jackson, allowing six hits with four earned runs, on walk and four strikeouts in six innings.

Charleigh Trotter had an RBI, and Madison Murphy went 2-for-3 with a double and a run
