Softball

WHITE PLAINS WINS FOUR: The Wildcats beat DAR 11-1, Bob Jones 8-6, Brewer 4-3 and Hokes Bluff 2-0 while playing at Sand Mountain Park.

Karli Otwell had a triple and three RBIs against DAR, and Jaylie Holt had a double, two RBIs and a run. Carleigh Anne Green went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Ansley Prichard had a double, a run and an RBI.

Green and Fritts pitched two innings apiece. Fritts allowed one hit and one walk with five strikeouts, and Green allowed five hits and one earned run.

Otwell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs against Bob Jones, and Anna O’Dell had a single and two RBIs. Rylee Smith went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Holt went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Fritts had a double and two runs.

Kinsleigh Gross got the win in 3 2/3 innings of work, striking out four batters.

The Wildcats walked it off with three runs in the bottom of the fifth against Brewer, the first on Prichard’s bunt single and the other two on Sara Kate Adams’ double.

Piper Thompson hit a solo home run.

Fritts got the win, allowing seven hits, two earned runs and a walk with eight strikeouts.

Gross pitched a one-hitter with three walks and five strikeouts against Hokes Bluff, and Fritts went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

ALEXANDRIA SWEEPS: The Valley Cubs (7-4) beat Piedmont 8-0 and DAR 11-0 on Saturday at Albertville’s Sand Mountain Park.

Marley Edge pitched a four-hit shutout with two strikeouts against Piedmont, and K Robertson went 2-for-2 with a triple and a run. Reece Carr had a single, two RBIs and a run, and Jacee Brooks had a single, a run and an RBI.

E Tolbert doubled for one of Piedmont’s four hits.

Against DAR, Cali Hess went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs and an RBI, and Boo Boo Bright went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run.

Carr pitched a three-hit shutout with two strikeouts. 

HOKES BLUFF: The Eagles beat Geraldine 7-5 and Weaver 9-0 before falling to White Plains 2-0.

Makenna Bennich went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs against Geraldine. Rylee Hill went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run, and Lacey Grace Hall went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Lainey Kate Beggs had a double and an RBI.

Lilli Wood got the win, spreading out seven hits over five innings with five strikeouts, three walks and two earned runs allowed.

Hall pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts against Weaver, and Alexis Colvard went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs and an RBI. Hill went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and a run, and Mazely Ball went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run.

Weaver’s Reyleigh Partner had a double.

 PIEDMONT: The Bulldogs (3-8-2) fell to Sardis 2-0 and Alexandria 8-0 before beating Collinsville 13-2.

Amarae Champion went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs against Collinsville, and Ellie Tolbert went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Kaelyn Greene went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.

Keagan Rogers went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Callie Faulkner got the win, allowing three hits and two walks with three strikeouts in three innings.

Tolbert had a double for one of Piedmont’s four hits against Alexandria, and Cadence Buttram and Anna Hase each had a single against Sardis.

Rogers pitched a solid outing, allowing four hits, no earned runs and three walks with one strikeout.

PLEASANT VALLEY SPLITS: The Raiders beat Wellborn 9-3 and lost to North Jackson 4-3.

Baylee Mae Grogan, Charlee Grogan and Ava Denham each had a single and RBI against North Jackson. Ellie Patterson went 2-for-3 with a run, and Alexa Cranmer hit a triple.

Baylee Mae Grogan allowed three hits, one walk and one earned run in four innings.

Cailey Almaroad went 2-for-3 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs against Wellborn. Elise Wheeler went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Denham, Hanna Henry and Charlee Grogan each had a single and an RBI, and Lilly Robinson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

Denham got the win, allowing no hits or runs with two walks and two strikeouts in three innings. 

WEAVER: The Bearcats (4-8) won two of three games Saturday at Sand Mountain Park, beating Asbury 7-3 and Westbrook Christian 3-2 before falling to Hokes Bluff 9-0.

Maddie Stanford went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs, and Jaylyn Medley tripled with two RBIs and a run. Ariel Sargent had a triple, a run and an RBI.

Sarah Gokey had a double and an RBI, and Heaven Bishop had a double and a run.

Weaver walked it off against Westbrook Christian, with pinch hitter Lilly Caulder singling home Bishop in the bottom of the fourth. Bishop had a double and two runs, and Gokey had an RBI.

Rayleigh Partner got the win, allowing three hits, two earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

Partner and Bishop each had a double against Hokes Bluff. 

MUNFORD: The Lions (12-2) beat Ranburne 5-1 and Oak Grove 5-4.

Brooklyn Pressley pitched a three-hitter against Ranbure with five strikeouts. She also had a single, a run and an RBI.

Ashtyn Bishop went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Madison Arnold had a double and a run.

Chloe Pickette went 2-for-3 with a home run,a double, three RBIs and two runs against Oak Grove. Arnold went 2-for-3 with two runs. Pressley and Addyson Britt each had a single and an RBI.

LINCOLN: The Golden Bears (5-6) beat Ranburne 4-0 and Sand Rock 14-0.

Shelby Williams pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts against Ranburne, and Aubrey Machen had a double and three RBIs. Cameron Pruitt went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.

Chandler Stephens pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts against Sand Rock, and Kalia Fowles went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs. Emery-Kate Hendrix went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.

Williams and Amrie Wells each had a single, two RBIs and a run.

Baseball

HOKES BLUFF 2, GLENCOE 1: Tanner Rutledge, Preston Griffith and Micah Brasher combined to hold Glencoe to six hits, and Carson Peppers had a single and an RBI as Hokes Bluff (5-4) made three hits count.

Rutledge allowed five hits, one earned run and no walks with two strikeouts in four innings, and Brasher got the win with a perfect inning of relief.

Glencoe’s Luke Johnson had a single and an RBI, and Bryce Borntrager allowed one hit and no earned runs with four strikeouts in six innings but issued seven walks.

SOUTHSIDE 10, SARDIS 2: Shelby Houston went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double, and Southside improved to 6-3.

Kolt Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Sam Berry had a double, two RBIs and a  run. Abe Martin went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Alex Brewer had a double and a run.

Houston pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, one walk and two earned runs with eight strikeouts.

SPRING GARDEN 3, CEDAR BLUFF 1: Brady Ruark and Clayton Sadler each had two hits and an RBI, and Ben Baker had a single and an RBI as Spring Garden upped to 5-5. Joel Hunter went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Baker struck out 12 batters with one walk and allowed six hits over seven innings.

HANDLEY SPLITS: The Tigers (4-4) fell to Childersburg 4-3 and beat Valley 2-1.

Skylar Hester went 2-for-3 with an RBI against Childersburg, and Owen Gabriel had an RBI. Aden Anthony and Kaleb Powel each hit a double.

Powel pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs and one walk with two strikeouts.

Handley scored two runs in the first inning and made it stand up against Valley. Zae Dunson went 2-for-2 with a run, and Alex Busbin had an RBI.
