Friday’s games

WELLBORN 17, FAITH CHRISTIAN 1: Wellborn’s Sawyer Thomas held Faith hitless through five innings, striking out 10 batters, and the No. 7 seed Panthers advanced to face No. 2 Alexandria on Saturday at noon.

He also went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Jackson Clark led several big performances at the plate for Wellborn, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs. Jace Bradley hit one of Wellborn’s four triples and finished with three RBIs.

Dalton Dillard went 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and J.D.Talley went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Tanner Ingram went 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, four runs and one RBI. Ashton Woodard went 2-for-3 with triple and three runs.

Zane Hill had a single and an RBI.

DONOHO 6, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 3: Sam Montgomery went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and No. 11 seed Donoho advanced to face No. 6 White Plains at 6:30 p.m.

Luke Farrell and Hartwell Church each had a double and an RBI.

Owen Watts went 1-for-3 with two runs, and he pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing two hits, no walks and no runs with four strikeouts.

Landon Calloway pitched five innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs and one walk with six strikeouts.

JCA, playing its first varsity game of the season, saw Bryson Dowdey got 2-for-4 with a double. Jameson Holderread had double and an RBI.

ANNISTON 18, SAKS 4: Anniston’s Zamari Hawkins went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs, and the Bulldogs benefited from 12 walks while scoring 18 runs on five hits.

Ciandre Walker went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Cameron Williams, Ha’raggi Harris, Isaiah Jones and Byron Pyles Jr. had an RBI apiece.

Harris pitched four innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs and two walks with three strikeouts. Hawkins struck out three batters while allowing a hit and a walk in one inning.

Saks’ Zayden Cordry went 2-for-2 with two runs, and Aiden Whitten went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

PLEASANT VALLEY 15, ANNISTON 0: Pleasant Valley’s Dixon Duncan went 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and Anniston forfeited in the middle of the second inning after running out of pitching in the Bulldogs’ second game of the day.

Wesley Wheeler went 1-for-1 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Peyton Mann had a single, two RBIs and a run.

Nic Acker went 1-for-1 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Jackson Acker went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Mann held Anniston hitless, striking out six batters with two walks.

OHATCHEE 5, WEAVER 4: Sawyer Beegle’s walk-off single scored Xavier Luna in the bottom of the seventh inning, after Luna doubled home Kaleb Brunner to tie it.

Brunner singled to reach base.

No. 8 seed Ohatchee advanced to face top seed Oxford in the game immediately following.

Luna went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, two runs and an RBI. Brunner went 2-for-4 with a run, and Mikey Caputo went 2-for-3.

Beegle got the win, pitching a hitless final inning. He struck out two batters and walked one.

Weaver’s Landon Free went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Braylen Gregory and Elijah Wills each had a single and an RBI, and Tucker Michaels scored two runs,

WHITE PLAINS 15, DONOHO 5: Keaton Lindsey went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and No. 6 seed White Plains advanced to face No. 3 Piedmont on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Lindsey ended the game with a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Matthew Masson went 2-for-2 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs, and Logan Laube went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs.

Jacob Stamm and Crew Martin each had a double, three runs and an RBI.

Donoho’s Sam Montgomery had two RBIs, and Luke Farrell had a single, an RBI and a run. Owen Watts went 2-for-2 with two runs, and Hartwell Church went 2-for-3 with a run.

OXFORD 13, OHATCHEE 0: Rocco Maniscalco went 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, two runs and two RBIs, and top seed Oxford advanced to Monday’s 7 p.m. semifinal.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, Oxford’s quarterfinal with Ohatchee was moved to Friday night because Oxford’s boys’ basketball team will play for a Class 6A state championship Saturday in Birmingham. The Yellow Jackets play Cullman at 2:15 p.m. in Legacy Arena.

Zakaree Newton went 2-for-3 with a run. Marcus Lawler had a double, a run and an RBI.

Kaedon Cook had a double and a run, and Asa Burns went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Noah Oswalt allowed on hit with two walks and three strikeouts in four innings, and Chase Williams pitched a perfect inning of relief with three strikeouts.

Ohatchee’s Ethan Jones hit a single.

Saturday’s games

JACKSONVILLE 5, PLEASANT VALLEY 4: Luke Richardson’s single in the bottom of the 11th inning ended it, scoring courtesy runner Rylee Matthews.

No. 4 seed Jacksonville will play top seed Oxford in Monday’s 7 p.m. semifinal at Piedmont High School.

Matthews ran for pinch hitter Parker Moore, who reached on a single. Matthews stole second base ahead of Richardson’s single.

Pleasant Valley tied the game 4-4 on Nic Acker’s RBI single, which scored Jackson Acker in the top of the sixth inning.

Jackson Askew paced Jacksonville at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. John Ducar went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs, and Sam Parker Wagoner had a double and an RBI.

Ducar pitched nine innings, allowing seven hits, one walk and two earned runs with nine strikeouts. Matthew Salmon got the win, pitching a perfect two innings of relief.

Pleasant Valley’s Jackson Acker went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs. He also pitched a solid outing while taking the loss, spreading out six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings.

ALEXANDRIA 11, WELLBORN 1: Cole Wheeler went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs, and Alexandria advanced to Monday’s 5 p.m. semifinal.

Sawyer Coggins went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Weston Haynes went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Jonathan Copeland allowed two hits, no walks and no earned runs with six strikeouts over five innings for the win.

Wellborn’s Sawyer Thomas had single and an RBI, and Ashton Woodard had a single.

PIEDMONT 4, WHITE PLAINS 3: Ben Dempsey went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and No. 3 Piedmont advanced to Monday’s 5 p.m. semifinal against No. 2 Alexandria at Piedmont.

Carson Cleveland had a double, and Carson Sanders scored two runs.

Charlie Sparks got the win allowing five hits, two earned runs and one walk with nine strikeouts in five innings. Dempsey and Austin pitched an inning of relief apiece.

White Plains’ Jacob Stamm had a double and an RBI, and Beau Madrigal added a single and an RBI. The Wildcats outhit Piedmont 6-3 but committed three errors.
