Munford’s Nichols wins pitchers’ dual to propel defending champion Lions into Talladega County final. More baseball, softball, tennis inside.

MUNFORD — Braydon Nichols pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts, and defending champion Munford beat Lincoln 1-0 in Wednesday’s semifinals of the Talladega County baseball tournament.
The Lions (2-3) will play Fayetteville in Thursday’s championship game at Munford.
Doubles by Nichols and Aiden Harris accounted for Munford’s two hits, and Nichols scored a run.
Lincoln’s Nick Catlett struck out 11 batters and walked two in six innings of work. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate.
HANDLEY 10, CLEBURNE COUNTY 0: Handley’s Kaleb Powel pitched a three-hit shutout with three strikeouts, and Zae Dunson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.
Alex Busbin went 1-for-4 with two RBis and a run, and Owen Gabriel added two RBIs. Aiden Anthony and Cole Davis each had a single and two runs, and Davis had an RBI.
Cleburne County got a single apiece from Cade Shubert, Cael Fulmer and Gavin Robinson.
Softball
CENTRAL-CLAY 4, RANBURNE 1: Lily McCain pitched a complete game, striking out four batters with one walk and allowing three hits as Central-Clay improved to 2-4.
She also went 1-for-4 and scored two runs.
Analyssa Harris led the Vols at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Ranburne’s Karoline Meadows hit a double, and Addison Gibbs pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and four walks with no earned runs and two strikeouts.
Tennis
DONOHO SWEEPS: The Falcons’ girls beat Westminster Oak Mountain 7-2, and the boys won.
The girls got singles wins from Avery Barnett, Natalie Rodgers, Elizabeth Downey, Bentlee Pahman and Sydney Marsh. The doubles teams of Barnett-Downey and Pahman-Marsh also won.
The boys also won 7-2, with singles victories from Rishi Reddy, Ethan Crawford, Foster Payton, Aiden Thompson and J.R. Sobers. The doubles teams of Crawford-Payton and Reddy-Thompson won.
