Baseball
OXFORD 10, SOUTHSIDE 9: Chase Williams’ sacrifice bunt in the top of the ninth gave Oxford the go-ahead run, and the Yellow Jackets upped to 3-5.
Williams finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Oxford scored four runs in the top of the first and four more in the fourth to lead 8-3, but Southside rallied to force extra innings.
Oxford’s Rocco Maniscalco went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Ayden Noyola went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Marcus Lawler went 2-for-5 with two runs, and Charlie Maniscalco went 2-for-5.
Zakaree Newton had a double, a run and an RBI.
Southside’s Alex Brewer went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, four RBIs and two runs. Will Stapleton went 3-for-6 with two doubles and two runs, and Abe Martin went 3-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs.
Ethan Sarratt went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Sam Berry went 2-for-6 with a double, and Eli Stewart went 2-for-4 with a run.
WHITE PLAINS 9, WELLBORN 5: White Plains took the lead for good with a five-run fourth inning and improved to 3-3.
Keaton Lindsey led the Wildcats at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple, four RBIs and two runs. Logan Laube had a single, a run and an RBI, and Walker Edwards went 2-for-3.
Edwards got the win, allowing four hits, one earned run and one walk with five strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
Wellborn’s Zack Pressley went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run. Sawyer Thomas and Jace Bradley each went 2-for-4, and Thomas had an RBI, and Eli Wicklund had a single and an RBI.
PIEDMONT 8, HOKES BLUFF 0: Carson Sanders and Ben Dempsey combined to hold Hokes Bluff to five hits, and Piedmont improved to 5-1.
Sanders got the win, allowing two hits and no earned runs with one strikeout in three innings. Dempsey worked the final four innings, allowing three hits, no walks and no runs with three strikeouts.
Dempsey also had a double, an RBI and a run.
Aliandre Wright went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Cole Austin had a double and two RBIs. Jaxson Howard had a double and two runs, and Eli Johnson had a single and two runs.
Hokes Bluff’s Carson Peppers went 2-for-3, and Bryce Whitaker had a double.
HOPE CHRISTIAN 13-19, CORNERSTONE 6-11: The Saints (8-2) finished off a sweep of Cornerstone, winning 13-6 and 19-11 on Tuesday after winning 14-1 Monday.
Kainen Bozeman had a double, two RBIs and a run in Tuesday’s first game, and Liam Avery went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Trevor Ryals went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs.
Aziah Amerson got the win, allowing two hits, no earned runs and one walk with five strikeouts in four innings.
In the second game, Caden Marturello went 4-for-5 with a triple, a double, four RBIs and two runs. Easten Strickland went 2-for-5 with a triple, a double, four RBIs and two runs.
Bozeman went 4-for-4 with a triple, five runs and an RBI.
WEAVER 13, FAITH CHRISTIAN 1: Elijah Willis went 2-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs and a run, and Weaver improved to 4-3.
Connor Hyatt went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs, and he pitched a two-hitter over five innings, allowing one earned run and no walks with five strikeouts.
Landon Free went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Peyton Andrews went 2-for-3 with two runs. Zane Hairrell went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, and Lyric Newman had a triple, an RBI and a run.
Faith’s Eli Shaw had a single and an RBI, and Asher Ray’s single accounted for the Lions’ other hit.
WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 8, JACKSONVILLE 2: Emmett Daniel hit a solo home run, and Westbrook improved to 4-3.
Brody Blevins went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one run, and Brodie Johnson had a triple, a run and an RBI. Brady Carden had a single and an RBI, and Jacob Maples went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Daniel pitched a complete game for the win, holding Jacksonville to two hits, two earned runs and two walks with eight strikeouts.
Jacksonville’s Sam Parker Wagoner homered with two RBIs and a run.
SPRING GARDEN 10, CEDAR BLUFF 3: Brady Ruark went 4-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run, and the Panthers improved to 3-5.
Eli Bates went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Zane Edwards had a double, a run and an RBI.
Joel Hunter went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Clayton Sadler went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and he got the win with 12 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings of work. He allowed two hits, three earned runs and six walks.
VALLEY 7, CENTRAL-CLAY 5: Central-Clay’s Gabe Harris went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Kaiden Glenn went 2-for-4 with a run, and Sam Harris went 2-for-4.
BEULAH 14, CLEBURNE COUNTY 4: Cleburne County’s Aiden Laminack went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Cade Shubert, Brayden Maduro and Silas Hunt had a single apiece.
VINCENT 7, DONOH 0: Donoho’s Boyce Yancey went 2-for-3. Owen Watts, Hartwell Church and Fisher White had a single apiece.
DADEVILLE 11, RANDOLPH COUNTY 2: Randolph County’s Rhett Huddleston went 2-for-3 with a run. Payton Pinkard and Mason Pike each had a single and an RBI.
Softball
ALEXANDRIA 13, JACKSONVILLE 0: Reece Carr pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks, and Alexandria upped to 2-4. She also had a single, an RBI and a run.
Jacee Brooks went 2-for-4 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs, and Cali Hess 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBIs.
Boo Boo Bright went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs, and Charlee Parris went 2-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.
Chloe Lockett had Jacksonville’s hit, a single.
WEAVER 18, SAKS 1: Maddie and Ariel Sargent hit inside-the-park home runs, and Weaver (1-6) got its first victory under new head coach Becca Feazell.
Sargent went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Stanford went 1-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs.
Ava Sargent went 4-for-4 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs. Heaven Bishop went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs. Ashlyn Coleman went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Reyleigh Partner went 1-for-1 with a double, three runs and two RBIs.
Sarah Gokey went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
Partner allowed two hits, one earned run and no walks with four strikeouts in three innings.
PIEDMONT 8, WELLBORN 1: Kaelyn Greene went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Piedmont improved to 2-4-2.
Cadence Buttram went 2-for-4 with two runs, and Keagan Rogers went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Callie Faulkner pitched five innings, allowing two hits, one earned run and three walks with five strikeouts.
Wellborn’s Cassidy Gray homered with two RBIs, and Raelyn Webb had two RBIs.
WHITE PLAINS12, CLEBURNE COUNTY 0: Carli Fritts went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Kinsleigh Gross pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks.
Gross pitched just 60 pitches in five innings,
Sara Kate Adams, Carleigh Anne Green, Karli Otwell and Jaylie Holt each went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Green had two doubles. Otwell and Holt had one apiece.
Piper Thompson had a double and an RBI, and Ansley Prichard went 2-for-2 with two runs.
Alleigh Prince and Kourtnie Alred had Cleburne County’s hits. Alred hit a double.
OHATCHEE 13, RAGLAND 1: Madison Mize homered with three RBIs and two runs, and Ohatchee improved to 7-4.
Alanah Fitch went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Annie Cox went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Gracie Reed went 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI.
Jordyn Faulkner pitched a three hitter, with one walk and one earned run allowed and seven strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
Ragland’s Alyssa Broome went 2-for-2.
RANBURNE 16, WADLEY 1: Rylann Graham, Shaylie Reaves, K.K. Rollins, Rylie Duke, Peyton Smith, Dakota Martin and Kamryn Jenkins had two hits apiece, and Ranburne upped to 3-2.
Graham went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and two RBIs; Reaves 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs; Rollins 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, a run and an RBI; Duke 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI; Smith 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI; Martin 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI; and Jenkins 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs and an RBI.
Addison Gibbs and Karoline Meadows each had a double and an RBI.
Reaves allowed two hits, no earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts in three innings.
WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 15, TALLADEGA 0: Parker Borders went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs, and Westbrook improved to 1-1.
Audry Snead went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Ava Tucker went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Alexis Crossley went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.
Reid Elam went 1-for-2 with three runs, and Brandi Stewart went 1-for-1 with three runs and an RBI. Aleya Crossley went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Elam allowed two hits with six strikeouts and no walks in four innings.
Soccer
JACKSONVILLE 1, PELHAM 0: Sophomore, Emerson Weaver scored Jacksonville’s goal, the first goal Pelham has allowed in its past six matches. Neveah Nicholson had seven saves, including a penalty-shot save. Joeh Kim and Grace Booth anchored the shutout.
Jacksonville’s boys lost to Pelham 10-0.
