Going around the horn and over the pitch for Monday’s area high school baseball, softball and soccer action. Will be updated as more games come in:

Baseball

PIEDMONT 7, ALEXANDRIA 0: Charlie Sparks and Ben Dempsey combined to pitch a one-hitter, and Piedmont improved to 4-1.

Sparks got the win, pitching six innings. He allowed one hit and four walks with five strikeouts.

Dempsey pitched a perfect inning of relief with one strikeout. He also had a double, a run and an RBI.

Carson Cleveland led Piedmont at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Ethan Tidwell and Jaxson Howard each had a single and an RBI, and Howard scored a run.

Emmitt Waldrep had Alexandria’s hit, a single.

HOPE CHRISTIAN 14, CORNERSTONE 1: Kainen Bozeman pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and three walks in four innings, and Hope improved to 7-2.

Bozeman also went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.

Caden Marturello led Hope at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a run. Kingston Eagle went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Trevor Ryals went 2-for-2 with a double and a run. 

Aziah Amberson doubled with two runs and an RBI, and Cayden Slick singled with two runs and an RBI.  

Easten Strickland went 1-for-1 with a double, four runs and an RBI.

JACKSONVILLE 6, OHATCHEE 1: Matthew Salmon went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Jacksonville improved to 2-3.

John Ducar had a single and an RBI, and Sam Parker-Wagoner doubled and scored a run. J Fomby singled with a run and an RBI.

Jackson Askew got the win, allowing no hits or runs with four walks and three strikeouts in three innings.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 4, SPRING GARDEN 2: Cherokee County’s Timothy Bobbit went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Cameron Mayo pitched a complete game, with nine strikeouts and two walks.

Joel Hunter had two of Spring Garden’s six hits, and Zane Edwards went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Ben Baker had a solid outing on the mound, allowing five hits, no earned runs and no walks with five strikeouts in six innings.

CENTRAL-CLAY 6, HANDLEY 5: J.T. Wilkerson’s sacrifice fly in the 10th inning gave the Vols the go-ahead run. He went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Sam Harris went 2-for-5 with a run, and Kaiden Glenn went 2-for-3 with a run. Gabe Harris had a single and an RBI, and Layton Pettus had a single, an RBI and a run.

Handley’s Cole Davis had a single and two RBIs, and Alex Busbin had a single, a run and an RBI. Aden Anthony went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and Zae Dunson doubled and scored a run.

VICTORY CHRISTIAN 15, DONOHO 7: Justin Rowe went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, four runs and two RBIs as Victory pounded out 12 hits.

Alex Hoggard went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, three runs and two RBIs. Kelton Strickland went 2-for-3 with a triple, four runs and two RBIs, and William Dial went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Donoho’s Luke Farrell went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and three runs. Sam Montgomery went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Hartwell Church went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs.

ASHVILLE 7, PLEASANT VALLEY 4: Pleasant Valley’s Nic Acker went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI, and Cooper Dougal went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Brody Barnwell added an RBI. The Raiders are 4-1.

Softball

OXFORD 8, ALEXANDRIA 7: Emma Tims-Becerra’s RBI single scored Tymeria Smith-Lindsey in the top of the eighth inning, and Jayla Jackson retired the side in the bottom of the inning as Oxford improved to 8-1.

Tims-Becerra went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Jackson got the win, allowing 10 hits, four earned runs and one walk in eight innings. She also went 2-for-5 with two doubles.

Jordyn Alexander went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Kylee Stephens went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Madison Murphy went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Alexandria’s Cali Hess went 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs, and Ryan Lumpkin went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Jacee Brooks added a single and an RBI.

MUNFORD 10, CENTRAL-CLAY 0: Madison Arnold and Brooklyn Pressley held Central-Clay to two hits apiece, and the Lions improved to 8-2.

Arnold worked three innings with two strikeouts and one walk, and Pressley worked two innings with three strikeouts and no walks.

Pressley also had one of Munford’s three home runs on the day while going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. 

Kastin Lathem went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and two runs, and Ashtyn Bishop went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs.

Central-Clay’s Soccara Lopez went 1-for-3 with a triple.

JACKSONVILLE 7, WEAVER 5: Jacksonville’s Ana Strain, Avery Allen, Alyssa Barnes and Harper Atchley each had a hit and an RBI. Barnes hit a triple and scored two runs.

Sadie Pate-Whitfield went 3-for-4, and Raybon Pridgen had a single and scored a run.

Chloe Lockett got the win, allowing eight hits, five earned runs and two walks with nine strikeouts in seven innings.

Weaver’s Jaylyn Medley hit a solo home run, and Heaven Bishop went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs. Reyleigh Partner went 2-for-4, and Sarah Gokey doubled with an RBI.

Ariel Sargent had a single, a run and an RBI.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 13, WELLBORN 3: Kyree Hilburn went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs as Cleburne County pounded out 16 hits.

Lola Sheldon homered and drove in two runs.

The Tigers got a double apiece from Alleigh Prince (2-for-4, RBI, two runs), Emma Williamson (1-for-4, two RBIs), Claire Humphries (3-for-4, two runs, RBI), Macey East (1-for-4, run, RBI) and Lilah Robinson (2-for-4, two runs, two RBIs).

Williamson allowed five hits, three earned runs and three walks in six innings for the win.

Wellborn’s Cassidy Gray went 2-for-2 with a triple, a double and three runs. Ryleigh Smith went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Brylee Ward had a double and an RBI.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 12, VICTORY CHRISTIAN 2: Addy Lee went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, four runs and three RBIs, and JCA improved to 2-0.

Mollie Mullinax went 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Audrina Williams went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Symone Estell went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Sophie Williams went 2-for-4 with three runs.

Sophie Williams pitched a complete game, allowing two hits, one earned run and four walks with four strikeouts in seven innings.

Victory’s Rylee Oakes singled with an RBI, and Addie Lee hit a double.

SAND ROCK 13, PIEDMONT 8: Sand Rock’s Molly Lay went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs, and Aubie Camp went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs.

Alyvia McMichen went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs, and Macy Martin went 2-for-2 with three runs. Kinzlee Peek had a single and two RBIs, and Raven Todd went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Piedmont’s Kaelyn Greene had a double, three RBIs and a run. Keagan Rogers went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and EllieTolbert went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Cadence Buttram went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Amarae Champion and Anna Hase each had a double, and Champion had an RBI.

Soccer

WEAVER BOYS 6, GLENCOE 2: Weaver’s Gianluca Torres had three goals and two assists, and Uli Lazcano scored three goals.
