Here’s a roundup of Saturday’s area tournament action involving area teams:

Class 4A, Area 8 boys

MUNFORD 57, TALLADEGA 55: Marquell Johnson and Kaydeen Mosley scored 13 points apiece, and Munford made history by clinching a sub-regional berth and a matchup with host Anniston in Tuesday’s 7:30 p.m. championship game.

Munford improved to 19-6, securing its best season since 1996-97.

Johnson hit two 3-pointers. Kandarius Hickman added 10 points, and Munford got eight points apiece from B.J. Anderson and Joshua Smith.

Talladega’s Jaden Curry hit two 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 18 points. JyKavien Wright’s 14 points included two 3-pointers, and Logan Morris scored 10 points.

ANNISTON 60, HANDLEY 47: Kyree Lewis paced Anniston with 15 points, and the Bulldogs secured a sub-regional berth while earning a matchup with Munford in Tuesday’s 7:30 p.m. championship game. Tariq Judkins added 11 points.

Class 3A, Area 9 boys

WEAVER 82, WELLBORN 21: D.J. Marbury led the way with 15 points, and host Weaver clinched a sub-regional berth while earning a berth in Monday’s 7 p.m. championship game against Randolph County.

John Curtis Reeves hit two 3-pointers while scoring 11 points and snagged six steals, and Idris Nira added 10 points.

Wellborn’s Justus Williams scored 12 points.

Class 3A, Area 9 girls

WEAVER 63, WELLBORN 18: Aliyah Marks hit 10 3-pointers on the way to 42 points, and host Weaver earned a sub-regional berth while advancing to Monday’s 5 p.m. championship game against Saks.

The Bearcats also got 10 points from Maddie Stanford.

Cassidy Gray led Wellborn with 14 points.

Class 3A, Area 12 boys

WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 47, PIEDMONT 40: Brady Carden led the way with 17 points, and Westbrook earned a sub-regional berth while advancing to Tuesday’s 7 p.m. championship game against host Glencoe.

Piedmont finishes its season with a 17-8 record.

Westbrook also got 18 points from Case Burton, who hit three 3-pointers, and eight from Titus Jones.

Piedmont’s Rollie Pinto, playing in his final high school game, scored a team-high 14 points. Taylon Swain added 12, and Ethan Tidwell added nine.

GLENCOE 72, OHATCHEE 40: Grant Smith led the way with 21 points, and Glencoe earned a sub-regional berth while advancing to Tuesday’s 7 p.m. championship game against Westbrook Christian.

Glencoe also got 10 points apiece from Bryce Borntrager, Wayne Nowak and Montress Hampton.

Class 1A, Area 12 boys

CEDAR BLUFF 69, PLEASANT VALLEY 48: Shon Gleen’s 34 points led the way, and Cedar Bluff earned a sub-regional berth while advancing to Tuesday’s 7 p.m. championship game against host Sand Rock.

Pleasant Valley finished its season 15-12.

Gleen hit four 3-pointers, and Kuper Bradley hit four on the way to 17 points.

Jake Barnwell paced Pleasant Valley with 15 points, and Braxton Salster added 12.

Class 1A, Area 12 boys

FAITH CHRISTIAN 63, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 52:  Colin Anderson poured in 37 points, and Faith Christian clinched a sub-regional berth while advancing in Saturday’s semifinals at JCA.

The Lions will play Donoho in Monday’s 7 p.m. championship game at JCA.

Anderson’s performance included five 3-pointers, and Parker Robertson added 14 points.

Noah Lee paced JCA with 18 points. Bryson Dowdey hit two 3-pointers on the way to 13 points, and Anthony Gooch hit two treys on the way to 12 points.

The Thunder finished 15-10.

DONOHO 59, SPRING GARDEN 51: Jayden Cameron hit eight 3-pointers on the way to 28 points, and Donoho earned a sub-regional berth while advancing to Monday’s 7 p.m. championship game.

The Falcons will face first-year head coach Cory Hughes’ former team, Faith Chrisitan.

Donoho also got 11 points from Carson Chandler and eight apiece from Ethan Crawford and Bryant Whitney.

Eli Bates led Spring Garden with 12 points, including two 3-pointers.Erik Rule added 11 points, and Brody Bostick had 10.
