Oxford boys get fifth consecutive victory. Jacksonville, Piedmont sweep, and Faith Christian wins in a thriller. Weaver rolls.

OXFORD — Chris Latson led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points, and Class 6A second-ranked Oxford beat Class 5A No. 3 Ramsay 62-34 on Monday.

The Yellow Jackets (8-3) picked up their fifth consecutive win.

Marcus Perry Jr. and Jaylen Alexander added 12 points apiece, and Jay’lin Taylor added 10 points. Taylor and Alexander hit two 3-pointers apiece.

JACKSONVILLE 54, SOUTHSIDE 34: Jacksonville’s Kamouri Harmon hit two 3-pointers on the way to 19 points. Braylon Kelley’s 11 points included two treys. Ben Pridgen and Malik Coleman added eight points apiece.

Jackson Klein led Southside with nine points. Caden Holderfield hit two 3-pointers while scoring eight points.

PIEDMONT 61, ETOWAH 49: Rollie Pinto hit five 3-pointers and five of six free throws on the way to 22 points to pace Piedmont. Taylon Swain’s 15 points included two 3-pointers, and Nick Glover hit two treys on the way to eight points.

Zach Winston led Etowah with 15 points, including two 3-pointers, and Kason Lacey added 11 points. 

FAITH CHRISTIAN 56, PLEASANT VALLEY 54: Colin Anderson’s floater with no time left lifted Faith to victory. He finished with 13 points.

Faith’s Parker Robertson poured in 28 points, including eight 3-pointers.

Braxton Salster led Pleasant Valley with 23 points, and Jake Barnwell added 16.

WEAVER 94, WELLBORN 24: D.J. Marbury scored all of his points in the first half and led five Weaver players in double figures.

The Bearcats also got 12 points apiece from Junior Allen and Taylor Green. Idris Nira added 11 points and five steals, and Leegion Bragg added 10.

Justus Williams and LeBrandon Smiley led Wellborn with six points apiece. Smiley hit two 3-pointers.

MT. PLEASANT 55, HOPE CHRISTIAN 47: Kailub Sparks led Hope with 24 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists. Carson Campbell added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Girls

JACKSONVILLE 53, SOUTHSIDE 31: Neveah Nicholson’s 23 points included five 3-pointers as Jacksonville rolled. Jayci Taylor hit two 3-pointers on the way to 19 points.

Molly Lincoln led Southside with nine points.

PIEDMONT 43, ETOWAH 37: Piedmont’s Nakia Bothwell scored 15 of her 16 points in the second half. Kenzie Prater’s eight points included two 3-pointers.

CEDAR BLUFF 62, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 47: Modasti Carr led JCA (7-1) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Addy Lee added 13 points and eight assists, and Mollie Mullinax turned in 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
