Pleasant Valley sweeps to area title. Cherokee County, Spring Garden win areas, and Alexandria, Faith Christian clinch regional berths.

PLEASANT VALLEY — Pleasant Valley won the Class 2A, Area 13 title Monday at home, sweeping Gaston 25-11, 25-7, 25-10 in the semifinals and Sand Rock 25-20, 27-25, 25-17.

Both teams clinched a berth in next week’s North Regional. Sand Rock punched its ticket by beating Cedar Bluff 25-17, 25-20, 25-15 in Monday’s area semifinals.

Pleasant Valley’s top performers:

— Madison Schwabe: 21 kills, three blocks, seven aces, 34 digs.
— Ella Parris: 19 kills, 10 blocks, 22 digs.
— Ellie Patterson: 20 kills, 14 blocks, six digs.
— Cailey Almaroad: three aces, 18 digs.
— Zalie Curvin: two aces, 23 digs.
— Hanna Henry: three kills, four digs.
— Avalyn Patterson: six blocks, two digs.
— Elise Wheeler: four kills, five blocks, eight digs, 50 assists.

CLASS 4A, AREA 12: Cherokee County and Alexandria clinched spots in next week’s North Regional volleyball tournament on Tuesday.

Both teams qualified by reaching the finals of the Class 4A, Area 12 tournament, with Cherokee County prevailing in a five-set thriller, 11-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 15-5.

Cherokee County clinched its regional berth by eliminating White Plains 25-15, 25-21, 25-21 in the semifinals, and Alexandria reached the finals by eliminating Hokes Bluff 25-9, 25-20, 25-10.

Cherokee County’s top performers:

— Macy Lea: 72 assists, 17 digs, four aces, six kills, two blocks.
— Raegan Garmany: 10 kills, two blocks, one dig.
— Mattie Green: four kills, two digs, one block, one assist.
— Ava Haygood: 28 kills, 13 digs, three blocks, three aces, two assists.
— Jolie Alexander: 14 kills, five blocks, five digs, two aces, one assist.
— Ellisan Givens: 36 digs, four assists, one ace.
— Nevaeh Gaidurgis: 26 kills, 13 digs, five aces, one block.

CLASS 1A, AREA 12: Spring Garden topped Faith Christian 19-25, 25-23, 25-16, 12-25,15-13 in the area final, with both teams clinching berths in next week’s Class 1A North Regional.

Spring Garden eliminated Jacksonville Christian 25-9,25-23, 25-21 to clinch a regional berth, and Faith eliminated Woodland 25-9, 25-13, 25-3.

Spring Garden’s top performers:
