ANNISTON — Dakyus Baker’s big moment arrived via airmail Friday, a lobbed pass spiraling to the receiver in front of him, in the corner of the end zone.
A tip, a catch, and Baker ran the other way with his prize.
The senior cornerback’s interception and run back took Anniston off the brink in a key Class 4A, Region 6 game, and the Bulldogs held on to edge Alexandria 20-18 at Lott-Mosby Stadium.
The fifth-ranked Bulldogs (3-0) upped to 2-0 in region play, and No. 9 Alexandria (2-1) fell to 1-1 in a game that could determine a region champion, if not which team plays at home in the first round of the playoffs.
“It’s a big region win, like a playoff game almost,” Baker said.
