Oxford opens season by winning two of three matches. Alexandria, Glencoe, Ohatchee sweep. Weaver tops Piedmont.

SOUTHSIDE — Oxford opened its season Tuesday by winning two out of three matches at a Southside quad.
The Yellow Jackets beat Lincoln 24-26, 25-9, 15-7, lost to Cherokee County 15-25, 13-25 and beat Southside 25-21, 19-25, 15-13.
Top performers for Oxford:
— Adriana Bonilla: 19 digs, three aces.
— Ava Thomas: 10 digs, nine aces, 33 kills.
— Payton Brooks: 12 digs, 53 assists.
— Emerald Cole: 10 kills.
— Lona Horn: 11 kills.
ALEXANDRIA SWEEPS: The Valley Cubs swept two Class 4A, Area 12 matches Tuesday, beating Hokes Bluff 25-17, 22-25, 25-22, 25-10 and Anniston 25-11, 25-9, 25-3.

— Zayley Mobbs: seven kills, one dig, one block.
— Sophie Martin: 10 kills, 27 assists, four digs, three blocks, 18 aces.
