SPRING GARDEN — Braxton Salster accounted for 200 yards in total offense and two touchdowns as Pleasant Valley beat Spring Garden 40-7 on Friday and improved to 2-0.

Salster completed five of 13 passes for 117 yards and rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns. He also had nine tackles, including two sacks and two tackles for loss.

Kayden Vick rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns, and Jaden Sparks added 100 yards rushing with a touchdown.

Cooper Dougal threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Hudson Sparks.

Pleasant Valley had 306 rushing yards and gave up 175 total yards. Izayah Evans led the Raiders with 16 tackles, including a sack and a tackle for loss. Sparks had 11 tackles, including two sacks and two tackles for loss, Brayden Pappa 11 tackles andAyden Pate 10 tackles with two sacks and two tackles for loss.

Brady Ruark accounted for Spring Garden’s touchdown on a 24-yard run.

ANNISTON 28, BEAUREGARD 15: Jamorris Young and D.J. Pope combined to throw three touchdown passes, and Anniston opened its regular season victorious.

Young passed for two touchdowns, 53 yards to Jayden Heard and 27 yards to Keddrick Jordan. Pope threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Jakorie Carr.

Jabari Williams rushed for 149 yards on nine carries, including a 60-yard touchdown run, and Pope rushed for 74 yards on 10 carries.

PIEDMONT 43, SAKS 0: Cole Austin hit on 13 of 17 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns as Piedmont upped to 2-0 and won its first Class 3A, Region 6 game.

Rollie Pinto caught five passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns, and Nick Mixson rushed seven times for 66 yards and two touchdowns against his former team.

Piedmont gained 317 total yards and held Saks (1-1, 0-1) to 42.

WELLBORN 28, J.B. PENNINGTON 15: Zane Hill rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns, and Wellborn opened its regular season and Class 3A, Region 6 play with a victory on the road.

Maurice Traylor added 88 yards rushing, and quarterback Aziah Amberon rushed for two touchdowns among his 18 rushing yards. Caden Horton added 54 yards rushing and a touchdown.

RANDOLPH COUNTY 64, CENTRAL-COOSA 50: Mo Winston rushed for 371 yards and six touchdowns on 27 carries to lead the Tigers to 2-0.

Randolph County has scored 108 points in two games.

Winston’s touchdown runs covered 46, 55, 23, 55, nine and nine yards. He also caught a 17-yard touchdown pass.

Brayden Terrell added 87 yards on eight carries with two touchdowns. Randolph County finished with 469 rushing yards.

RANBURNE 14, WOODLAND 6: Ranburne’s Carson Jones hit on 11 of 22 passes, and Ranburne showed balance with 108 rushing yards and 103 passing yards.

Aiden Whitman carried 18 times for 66 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 25, ARAB 0: Keyshawn Woods rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns, and Cherokee County (1-1) rebounded from its season-opening loss to Piedmont.

Jayshawn Stroup added 97 yards and two touchdowns on 10 rushes, and Adam Griffith completed seven of nine passes for 63 yards.

WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 44, GLENCOE 7: Brody Blevins completed 12 of 18 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 19 yards and a score as Westbrook opened its regular season and Class 3A, Region 6 play with a victory.

The game featured third-year Westbrook Christian coach Steve Smith against one of his former players, first–year Glencoe coach Bayley Blanchard, who played for Smith at Piedmont. Glencoe’s staff also includes three other former Piedmont players: Dillon Terry, Silas Thompson and Austin Biishop.

Brodie Johnson caught four passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns, Maximus Jones had two catches for 78 yards and rushed for 13 yards and a touchdown.

Easton Skaggs led Westbrook’s defense with nine tackles, including three sacks, and Titus Jones had eight tackles, including three for loss.

Kicker/punter Read Barber averaged 56 yards on three punts, with three inside the 20-yard line. He also went 5-for-5 on extra points and 1-for-2 on field goals and had five touchbacks on six kickoffs.

JCA 54, TUSCALOOSA CHRISTIAN 20: Jacksonville State commit Noah Lee hit on 14 of 17 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns, and Jacksonville Christian improved to 2-0. He also rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns.

Bryson Dowdey had a strong night on both sides of the ball, with 104 receiving yards and a touchdown, an interception and six tackles. Dawson Wilkerson added 32 receiving yards with 12 tackles and an interception, and Brodie Wilkerson 89 total yards, including 57 rushing and two touchdowns with six tackles.

Jack Henry Harris added seven tackles and an interception, and Anthony Gooch 63 yards receiving and a touchdown and a rushing touchdown.
