New job, old problem as Felder works through low numbers while trying to get Saks back to form.
Editor’s note: This is the ninth installment of Talkin’ Football 2025. East Alabama Sports Today editor Joe Medley will do on-campus interviews at all football-playing schools in Calhoun County. The package will include a video interview, interesting facts and Joe’s take for EA+ subscribers. Today’s visit: the Saks Wildcats.
SAKS — Shannon Felder has that familiar feeling, and it’s more than the former Donoho coach returning to Calhoun County after a 11-year absence to coach Saks.
That familiar feeling comes from looking at his roster and not seeing many names. In the absence of numbers, the 22nd-year head coach sees positives.
“The kids that we have are working hard every day,” he said. “I think we’re understanding what we’re doing a lot better.
“I know we’ve made a lot of progress since the spring game. I’m pleased with where we are.”
More quotes, details, interesting facts about the 2025 Saks Wildcats and a video interview are available for EA+ subscribers.
