Oxford’s McEwen, Donoho’s Kitchen East Alabama Sports Today’s king, queen of the courts for Calhoun County tennis.

Donoho’s Blair Kitchen and Oxford’s Kye McEwen are the East Alabama Sports Today players of the year for tennis in 2025. Kitchen went undefeated in the regular season and 24-2 overall while advancing to the state Class 4A-5A No. 2 singles semifinals. She and No. 1 doubles partner Avery Barnett went 22-2 and advanced to state. One of Donoho’s top six singles players since eighth grade, Kitchen will attended Auburn University in the fall and major in finance. McEwen didn’t play in the Red Wilder Tournament, the de facto county tournament, but posted a 9-2 singles record and 10-3 doubles record. He and doubles partner Lucas Somers qualified for the Class 6A state tournament. McEwen will attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and major in aerospace engineering.
