Area softball

Pell City sweeps. Lincoln tops Jacksonville, but Golden Eagles get another shot. Hokes Bluff splits. Randolph County and Weaver victorious.

Going around the horn with Friday’s action in area softball tournaments.

Class 6A, Area 11

PELL CITY 10-9, OXFORD 1-4: Pell City swept Oxford in an area tournament that became a best-of-3 series after Shades Valley’s team dissolved at midseason.

Pell City (25-14-2) and Oxford (18-16) will advance to the East Regional next week at Albertville.

Pell City’s Kherington Keith went 3-for-3 with a home run, five RBIs and three runs in Friday’s first game, and Grace Falls went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jayden Smith went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Reese Tarver went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Ally Mosley pitched a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

Oxford’s Jayla Jackson hit a solo home run, and Emma Tims-Becerra went 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Madison Murphy had a double.

Keith homered again while going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs in the second game. Kensley Evans went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs.

Mosley got the win, pitching a perfect 2 1/3 innings with one strikeout. 

Murphy and Koriyah Kimbrough hit solo home runs for Oxford. Haleigh Pruitt had a triple and an RBI, and Kylee Stephens had a double and a run.

Class 5A, Area 11

LINCOLN 10, JACKSONVILLE 3: The Golden Bears (22-17-1) beat Jacksonville 10-3 then fell to St. Clair County 11-3.

Jacksonville and Lincoln will play an elimination game Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The winner will play St. Clair County in the finals.

Shelby Williams went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs. Aubrey Machen went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, two runs and one RBI, and Cameron Pruitt went 1-for-4 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs.

Kalia Fowles went 2-for-4 with a run, and Addison Campbell had a double and an RBI.

Chandler Stephens pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts, four walks and no earned runs allowed.

Jacksonville’s Chloe Lockett aand Alyssa Barnes each had a single. Ava Brown and KeAsiah Williams had an RBI apiece.

Stephens had a single and two RBI against St. Clair County.

Class 4A, Area 11

HOKES BLUFF SPLITS: The Eagles opened tourney play with a 12-6 victory over Etowah then fell to host and top seed Ashville 11-1.

Hokes Bluff will play the survivor between Oneonta and Etowah in Saturday’s 1 p.m. elimination game.

Lainey Kate Beggs went 3-for-5 with two hom runs, five RBIs and two runs against Etowah. Rylee Hill went 5-for-5 with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs.

Makenna Bennich went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Lacey Grace Hall went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two runs. Alexis Colvard went 1-for-3 with a double and three runs, and Addison Simmons went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Class 3A, Area 9

RANDOLPH COUNTY 15, SAKS 0: Khloe Yates pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts in three innings, and Randolph County (19-7) advanced to play Weaver in Saturday’s 10 a.m. winners’ bracket final.

Saks will play Wellborn in an elimination game at 4 p.m.

Yates also had a single and two RBIs.

Gracie Huckeba went 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs, and K Huckeba went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI. Hannah Parmer went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run, and Bryer Thompson went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

WEAVER 16, WELLBORN 1: Rayleigh Partner spread out six hits with on striikouts and no walks, and she went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs as Weaver (14-15) advanced to face top seed and host Randolph County in Saturday’s 10 a.m. winners’ bracket final.

Wellborn will play Saks in a 4 p.m. elimination game.

Caitlin Edmondson went 1-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs, and Maddie Stanford went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. 

Ava Sargent went 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, and Promise McLean went 2-for-3 with two runs. Ashlyn Coleman went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.
