Tidwell’s walk-off solo shot gives No. 2 seed White Plains third homer in victory over Cherokee County, shot at top seed Alexandria in winners’ bracket final.

ALEXANDRIA —  Emma Tidwell had that feeling when she stepped to the plate in a tied game with Cherokee County in the bottom of the seventh inning of their crucial first-round game in the Class 4A, Area 12 tournament Friday.

It wasn’t a good feeling.

“Honestly, I felt like I was going to throw up,” she said.

Instead of throwing up, she stepped up.

Tidwell hit a solo home run to left field, and White Plains won 5-4 to advance to Friday’s winners’ bracket final against tourney host Alexandria.
