JACKSONVILLE β€” Spring practice was about developing depth for Jacksonville State’s football team but it was also about going deep.

Three deep-ball touchdown passes in the first half highlighted the annual J-Day game as White beat Black 17-13 in AmFirst Stadium.

Unofficially, returning starting quarterback Caden Creel, playing for the White team, hit on seven of 12 passes for 169 yards, including touchdown passes of 74 yards to Darius Cannon and 55 yards to Bryson Roullier.

Jack Moran, playing for Black, hit on 11 of 23 passes for 147 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown bomb to Dondre Johnson. Moran also lobbed the pass that became Caleb Nix’s game-clinching interception in the game’s waning seconds.
