Swindall comes home

Former Alexandria wrestler to return after one year at Southside to lead Valley Cubs’ boys’ wrestling program.

SAKS — Alexandria’s boys’ wrestling program will stay within the family.

Former Valley Cub wrestler Fletcher Swindall’s hiring as head coach was approved by the Calhoun County Board of Education Thursday. He’ll take over for Frank Hartzog, who announced intentions to step back from coaching after guiding the Valley Cubs to a Class 1A-4A state runner-up finish.

Swindall  comes to Alexandria after serving as Southside’s head coach in the 2025-26 season.
