Ohatchee softball ups to 15-5, and JCA victorious. Alexandria, Pleasant Valley, Glencoe, Faith Christian and Cherokee County win in baseball.

Going around the horn with Friday’s area high school baseball and softball action:

Softball

OHATCHEE 10, PIEDMONT 4: Annie Cox went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Ohatchee picked up an area victory while improving to 15-5 overall.

Makayla Bracket went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs, and Asia Keith went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Gracie Reed went 3-for-4 with a run, and Reese Steward hit a double.

Cox got the win, allowing one hit, no runs and no walks with two strikeouts in the first 3 1/3 innings

Piedmont’s Cadence Buttram went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and the Bulldogs got a single and an RBI apiece from Amarae Champion and Keagan Rogers.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 10, ANNISTON 3: Parker Lynn Schavey homered with three RBIs, and JCA improved to 6-0.

Addy Lee had a triple and two RBIs, and Audrina Williams went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Bryleigh Reid went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Amberly Brodeur went 2-for-4 with a run, and Symone Estell went 1-for-3 with two runs. C Sexton had a double and scored a run.

Williams got the win, allowing four hits, four walks and three earned runs with eight strikeouts in seven innings.

Anniston’s Lyric Williams went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI, Ky-mari Howse had a single and an RBI.

Baseball

DESHLER 5, PIEDMONT 4: Cole Austin hit a three-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning, but fell to 14-5 on the season.

Austin went 2-for-4 and scored a run to go with his three RBIs, and Brenan Hurst went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Ethan Tidwell doubled and scored a run.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 7, FYFFE 3: Nate Black hit a solo home run, and the Warriors upped to 8-11.

Owen Jacoway went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Adam Griffith had a single, two RBIs and a run. Aiden Bobbitt went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Case Hill had a single, two runs and an RBI.

Cam Mayo got the win, allowing three hits with four strikeouts and no walks in three innings.

FAITH CHRISTIAN 11, TALLADEGA 1: Tanner Smith went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Faith upped to 5-4. Canden Martin added a run and an RBI, and Asher Ray had a single and a run.

Faith benefitted from 12 walks and five Talladega errors.

Ray struck out 10 batters while allowing two hits and no walks in five innings.

PLEASANT VALLEY 7, SECTION 4: Cooper Dougal homered and drove in three runs, and Pleasant Valley improved to 11-5.

Nic Acker went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Brody Barnwell had a single and an RBI. Dixon Duncan went 2-for-5 with a run, and Peyton Mann had a single and two runs.

Dallas Roper got the win with a complete game, allowing eight hits, three earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts in seven innings.

ALEXANDRIA 8, RANBURNE 3: Cole Wheeler went 1-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs, and Alexandria reached 12-8.

Jeremiah Heathcock had a single and two RBIs, and Garrett Haynes went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Jace Loggins had a triple with a run. Sawyer Coggins went 2-for-4 with two runs, and Emmitt Waldrep went 2-for-4.

Waldrep got the win, spreading out seven hits, three walks and three earned runs with one strikeout over four innings.

Ranburne’s Logan Carter went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Aiden Jackson had a single and an RBI. Sam Davenport hit a triple. 

GLENCOE 12, WELLBORN 0: Jaxon Hollis pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks, and Glencoe improved to 9-12. He also hit a triple and scored three runs.

Aiden Johnson went 2-for-2 with a double, four runs and two RBIs, and Justin Rogers went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jamin Mintz had a single and an RBI, and Daniel Bradley contributed a run and an RBI.

Ashton Woodard had Wellborn’s hit, a single.

JACKSONVILLE DROPS TWO: Playing at Hoover, Jacksonville fell to Hoover 11-1 and Lincoln County (Tenn.) 5-0. Jackson Askew’s RBI double was Jacksonville’s lone hit against Hoover, and Nick Johnson’s double was the highlight among the Golden Eagles’ four hits against Lincoln County. Jacksonville is 7-9.
