Baseball

HANDLEY 15-16, ANNISTON 0-1: Rylee Cummings got the area doubleheader started with a perfect game, striking out nine batters in three innings, and Hayden Hare allowed one hit with three strikeouts in two innings in the nightcap.

Handley’s Aden Anthony went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and two runs in the first game, and Alex Busbin went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.

Luke Murr went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Skylar Hester went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Cole Davis went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run.

Zae Dunson went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, and Cordan Patterson went 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs and an RBI.

Dunson went 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, four RBIs and a run in the second game, and Hester doubled with three RBIs and a run. Owen Gabriel went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs.

Patterson went 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs, and Bronson Veal went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and a run. Busbin had a double and two runs.

MUNFORD 14-19, TALLADEGA 0-0: Jace Waugh and Aiden Harris combined for a no-hitter in the first game of their area doubleheader. Harris had eight strikeouts in three innings, and Waugh fanned five in two innings.

B.J. Anderson went 2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs, Braydon Nichols went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Christian Fisher went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Braylon Stewart went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs.

Bryson Cooper and Brayden Durham combined for a perfect game in the second game. Durham struck eight batters in two innings, and Cooper struck out six in two innings.

Braden Finch went 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, a double, four runs and two RBIs. Harris went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Stewart went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs.

Nichols went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Landon Gallahair tripled with two RBIs and two runs Kane Krafthefer went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run.

GLENCOE 10, RANDOLPH COUNTY 0: Levi Lasseter pitched a one-hitter with four strikeouts and one walk, and Glencoe improved to 6-10.

Luke Johnson had a single and an RBI, and Jacob Loftis scored two runs and drove in a run. Jaxon Hollis had a single and two runs, and the Yellow Jackets benefitted from seven walks and five Randolph County errors.

HOKES BLUFF 16, ASHVILLE 0: Preston Griffith pitched a four-hitter with three strikeouts and one walk, and Hokes Bluff improved to 8-7. He also went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run.

Bray Bearden went 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs. Tanner Rutledge went 3-for-4  with four runs, and Bryce Whitaker went 2-for-4 with a triple and four runs and an RBI.

Caron Peppers went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Drew McCarver went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Javin Norman went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

SOUTHSIDE 9, JACKSONVILLE 2: Casen McGarity allowed two hits with seven strikeouts in five innings, and Southside improved to 9-4. 

Southside’s W Stapleton went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs. Carson McGraw went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Eli Stewart went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Abe Martin went 2-for-4 with a run. Alex Brewer went 1-for-4 with a double and a run, and Shelby Houston went 1-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Ethan Sarratt went 1-for-3 with a run.

Jacksonville’s Jackson Askew had a double and an RBI, and Luke Richardson singled and scored a run. 

WELLBORN SPLITS: The Panthers (6-7) fell to East Limestone 7-0 and beat Vinemont 5-4.

Tanner Ingram’s RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh won the Vinemont game, right after Ashton Woodard’s two-run triple tied the game.

Zack Pressley also hit a triple, and Jace Bradley went 3-for-3 with a run.

Jackson Clark got the win, allowing one hit, two walks and no earned runs with five strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

Three East Limestone pitchers held Wellborn hitless in the first game.

OAK MOUNTAIN 10, WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 4: Westbrook’s Brady Carden went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Emmett Daniel had two RBIs and a run, and Wil Chadwick drove in a run. Dalton Helms hit a double.

PIKE ROAD 12, PIEDMONT 0: Pike Road’s Matthews pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts and three walks, and Piedmont fell to 10-3.

SAND ROCK 18, DONOHO 2: Donoho’s Luke Farrell had a double and an RBI, and Cooper Christopher singled with an RBI, but the Falcons fell to 1-9.

Softball

RANDOLPH COUNTY 10, CLEBURNE COUNTY 0: Abi Waters pitched a two-hitter with three strikeouts, and the Tigers improved to 7-4. She also went 2-for-3 with a double.

Lizzie Milam went 2-for-4 with two RBis, and Kinsley Weathers went 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs. Hannah Parmer singled and drove in a run.

Khloe Yates had a single and two RBIs, and Emmy Maffeo singled with an RBI.

GLENCOE 9, WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 4: Zowie Morris went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, and Glencoe improved to 6-6. 

Kynsley Freeman went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and a run, and Caitlin Romano went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Katy Talbot went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.

Freeman pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

Westbrook’s Parker Borders singled with an RBI.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 12, GAYLESVILLE 0: Audrina Williams went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, and JCA improved to 5-0.

Cali Sexton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Bryleigh Reid went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Addy Lee tripled with a run and an RBI, and Symone Estell doubled with two runs and an RBI.

Sophie Williams got the win, allowing six hits, two earned runs and no walks with six strikeouts in six innings. 

MUNFORD 13, TALLADEGA 2: Madison Arnold went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs, and Munford improved to 16-4. She also pitched a perfect 1 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.

Chloe Pickette went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Kastin Lathem went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and B Durham went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run. Ashtyn Bishop went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Brooklyn Pressley had two RBIs. She also got the win, allowing four hits, three walks and two earned runs with seven strikeouts in three innings.

Talladega’s Teziah Sanders had a double with an RBI.

RANBURNE 6, SOUTHEASTERN 1: K.K. Rollins went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Rylann Graham had four hits and a run as Ranburne improved to 5-8.

Rylie Duke went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Shaylie Reaves went 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a run. Kasen Hallman had a double and an RBI, and Peyton Smith doubled and scored a run.

Addison Gibbs pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, two walks and one earned run with four strikeouts in seven innings.

SHELBY COUNTY 10, CENTRAL-CLAY 0: Shelby County’s Richardson pitched a perfect game with 15 strikeouts, and the Vols fell to 5-9.
