Weaver’s Hise, Bishop capture top awards for the 2026 East Alabama Sports Today All-Calhoun County wrestling team.

2026 All-Calhoun County wrestling

All-county wrestling is based on championship finals at the Calhoun County Tournament, which was held Jan. 5 at Alexandria High School. Winners should be considered first team, runners up second team. Coaches voted for county coaches of the year at that time. Postseason results also factor into wrestler-of-the-year choices.

BOYS WRESTLER OF THE YEAR: Haiden Hise, Weaver

Notable: Won his weight class at county and state. His pin with eight seconds left at state was key in Weaver’s comeback on the final day to edge Alexandria 156.5–155 for Weaver’s 13th state title and fourth in five years. Hise battled through the effects of an autoimmune disorder while winning at state.

COACH OF THE YEAR: Dustin Screws, Ohatchee.

Notable: Voted by coaches at the county tournament.

Ohatchee’s Dustin Screws was voted boys’ coach of the year by his peers.

Weaver’s Heaven Bishop sweetens Weaver’s second consecutive team state title by winning the 1A-5A 165-pound championship final in Huntsville on Feb. 14.

Notable: Voted by coaches at the county tournament.

Alexandria’s Skyler Payne was voted girls’ coach of the year by his peers.
