Going around the horn and over the pitch for Monday’s area high school baseball, softball and soccer action:

Softball

WHITE PLAINS 7, CHEROKEE COUNTY 4: Karli Otwell turned driving age Thursday and celebrated her 16th birthday with a memorable drive. She hit a one-out, walk-off grand slam to cap White Plains’ six-run bottom of the seventh inning, and the Wildcats improved to 8-3.

Carleigh-Anne Green had and RBI single in the rally, and Carli Fritts drove in a run with a fielder’s choice.

Green went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Piper Thompson went 2-for-3 with a run.

Fritts got the win, allowing four hits, two earned runs and two walks with seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Cherokee County’s Kaylee Lewis went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Sofie Dawson had a single, a run and an RBI. 

ALEXANDRIA 12, CLEBURNE COUNTY 2: Jacee Brooks went 2-for-4 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs, and Alexandria (3-4) picked up its second consecutive victory.

Ryan Lumpkin went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Reece Carr went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Boo Boo Bright went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Charlee Parris went 1-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Cali Hess went 1-for-3 with three runs.

Marley Edge got the win, allowing six hits, two earned runs and three walks with two strikeouts over six innings. She also had an RBI.

Cleburne County’s Lola Shelton went 2-for-3, and Daylea Brewster had a double and two RBIs.

PLEASANT VALLEY 5, CEDAR BLUFF 1: Alexa Cranmer went 2-for-4 with a run and three steals, and Pleasant Valley improved to 4-4 overall and opened area play with a victory.

Cailey Almaroad went 1-for-4 with a double, and Hanna Henry went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Lilly Robinson went 1-for-4; Ellie Patterson 2-for-3 with a run;.Elise Wheeler 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run; and Ava Denham 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Baylee Mae Grogan pitched a complete game, allowing three hits, one walk and one earned run with  five strikeouts.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 6, WELLBORN 1: JCA’s Addy Lee went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two  runs and two RBIs.

Audrina Williams pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts and two walks. She also went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.

Sophie Williams went 1-for-2 with two runs, and Cali Sexton went 1-for-2 with a run.

Wellborn’s Zierra Foster went 1-for-3.

WOODLAND 7, CENTRAL–CLAY 0: Woodland’s Railey Williams pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and one walk. She also went 2-for-2 with two runs.

Alyssa Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Leah Geter had a double and an RBI. Emma Elsberry went 1-for-3 with two runs, and Lilly Kirby went 1-for-3 with a run.

Central-Clay’s Ensleigh Giddens and Sophia Castleberry had a single apiece.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY 15, JACKSONVILLE 0: St. Clair County’s Carmen Garner went 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and three runs, and Haley Simmons went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs.

Emma Porterfield went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and three runs, and Jayla Bass went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs.

Demeria Dean went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.

Oaklie Revis pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks. Sadie Pate-Whitfield had Jacksonville’s hit, a double.

MUNFORD 17, ANNISTON 2: Chloe Pickette went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs, and Munford improved to 8-2.

Kastin Lathem went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Ashtyn Bishop went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Addison Britt went 1-for-2 with three runs and an RBI.

Madison Arnold added two RBIs and a run.

Brooklyn Pressley got the win, allowing one hit with seven strikeouts in three innings. 

HOKES BLUFF 11, PIEDMONT 3: Hokes Bluff’s Lacey Grace Hall went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Makenna Bennich went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Alexis Colvard went 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI.

Piedmont’s Kaelyn Greene hit a solo home run, and Keagan Rogers hit a double. Cadence Buttram went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Amarae Champion and Anna Hase each went 2-for-4.

RANDOLPH COUNTY 12, WEAVER 0: Randolph County’s Abi Waters pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts in five innings, and she went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Gracie Huckeba went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs. and Emmy Maffeo went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.

Weaver’s Heaven Bishop went 2-for-2 with a double, and Reyleigh Partner had a single.

Baseball

PIEDMONT 15, GERALDINE 0: Piedmont’s Brenan Hurst went 2-for-2 with a triple, five RBIs and two runs, and Carson Cleveland and Ethan Tidwell held Geraldine to one hit.

Cleveland got the win, allowing one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts in four innings. He also went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI.

Tidwell pitched a perfect inning of relief, and he chipped in an RBI and a run.

Carson Sanders went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and 

Aliandre Wright went 1-for-1 with three runs, and Cole Austin went 1-for-2 with three runs. Jaxson Howard went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.

Riley Copeland had a double, a run and an RBI, and Judd Pope had a single and a run.

JACKSONVILLE 11, CHEROKEE COUNTY 2: Jacksonville’s Luke Richardson went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run, and Matthew Salmon went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.

Layton Owensby went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI, and John Ducar went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Nick Johnson pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, two earned runs and two walks with one strikeout. He also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.

Cherokee County’s Wyatt Baker went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Evan Hill added an RBI.

OXFORD 12, WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 8: Zakaree Newton went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Oxford improved to 4-5.

Marcus Lawler went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Rocco Maniscalco had a double, an RBI and four runs. Bryson Bradford went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Ethan Pate got the win, allowing one hit, one walk and two earned runs with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.

Westbrook’s Brodie Johnson homered with three RBIs and two runs. Wil Chadwick went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI, and Brody Blevins went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Dalton Helms went 2-for-3 with a run. 

HANDLEY 11, WOODLAND 1: Handley’s Cordan Patterson went 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Alex Busbin went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs.

Luke Murr had a triple, a run and an RBI, and Isaiah Culbertson had a double and two RBIs. Kaleb Powel and Bronson Veal each had a double and a run.

Three Handley pitchers combined to hold Woodland to four hits. Murr got the win, allowing no hits or runs with two strikeouts in one inning.

Woodland’s Jackson Smith had a double and an RBI.

HOKES BLUFF 13, WEST END 3: Hokes Bluff’s Carson Peppers went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, and Tanner Rutledge went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run.

Javin Norman went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Preston Griffith went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Bryce Whitaker went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Parker Causey got the win, allowing five hits, three earned runs and no walks with six strikeouts in six innings.

Hokes Bluff also lost to Sardis 5-2. Peppers had an RBI. Bray Bearden and Drew McCarver each went 2-for-3 with a run.

FAYETTEVILLE 11, MUNFORD 1: Ethan Jones pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts, and Fayetteville won the Talladega County tournament at Munford.

Jones also went 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs.

Mason McDaniel went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Blayton Cantrell went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs.

Munford’s Braydon Nichols had a single and an RBI.

BENJAMIN RUSSELL 12, CENTRAL-CLAY 6: Central-Clay’s Gabe Harris went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Hudson Foster went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Ryder Waldrep went 3-for-3 with two runs, and Kamden Mullins had a double and two RBIs.

Soccer

DONOHO GIRLS 10, WEAVER 0: Lauren Wigley scored three goals, and Donoho improved to 5-2 overall, 2-0 area.

Chloe Melton added two goals and two assists, and Isata Sesay scored two goals. Isabella Romero had a goal and two assists, and Donoho got a goal apiece from Morgan Perry and Ann Kate Lindell.

Hania Rehman had two assists, and Sophia Sanders had one.
