Baseball
PLEASANT VALLEY: The Raiders (4-0) beat Ohatchee 9-0 and Spring Garden 12-2 at Spring Garden.
Jake Barnwell pitched a complete-game shutout against Ohatchee, striking out nine batters with three walks and five hits allowed in seven innings.
Nic Acker went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs.
Dixon Duncan went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Peyton Mann went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Against Spring Garden, Jackson Acker doubled with two RBIs. He also got the win, striking out seven batters while allowing four hits, no earned runs and no walks in 4 2/3 innings.
Brody Barnwell contributed two RBIs and two runs. L Beason went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run. Cooper Dougal went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.
OHATCHEE: The Indians lost to Pleasant Valley 9-0 and beat Spring Garden 6-1 at Spring Garden.
Ethan Jones went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs against Spring Garden. He also pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, two walks and one earned run with five strikeouts in seven innings.
Mikey Caputo went 2-for-3. Alston Carroll went 1-for-2 with two runs, and Brayden Bennett went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Alex Boling went 1-for-2 with two runs.
SPRING GARDEN: The Panthers (2-4) fell to Pleasant Valley 12-2 and Ohatchee 6-1 at home.
Dawson Ellzey had a double and RBI against Pleasant Valley, and Brady Ruark doubled and scored a run. Zack Scogin also contributed an RBI.
Ellzey went 2-for-3 against Ohatchee, and Ben Baker hit a double.
OXFORD: The Yellow Jackets (2-5) fell to Hartselle 2-1 and Hazel Green 11-8 on the road.
Ayden Noyola had a single and RBI against Hartselle, and Marcus Lawler had a double and a run.
Noah Oswalt had three walks but pitched five hitless and scoreless innings.
Against Hazel Green, Noyola went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs. Zakaree Newton went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run, and Rocco Maniscalo went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs.
Bryson Bradford went 2-for-3 with a double, and Canaan Whitman hit a double.
WELLBORN 17-10, B.B. COMER 5-6: Tanner Ingram went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and four RBIs in the first game, and Zack Pressley went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Ashton Woodard went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI.
Dalton Dillard had a single, a run and an RBI, and J.D. Talley had three RBIs. Jace Bradley went 2-for-5 with a run, and Eli Wicklund went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Dillard got the win. striking out six batters while allowing four hits, three earned runs in four innings.
Dillard homered with two RBIs in the second game. Zane Hill went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Jackson Clark singled with two RBIs and a run.
Ingram had a double and two runs. Woodard and Bradley each had a single, a run and an RBI.
CLEBURNE COUNTY 10, RANDOLPH COUNTY 4: Luke Smith went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run, and Cleburne County improved to 2-1.
Cade Shubert went 2-for-4 with three runs, and Matthew Wilson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Silas Hunt had a double, a run and an RBI.
Camden Beam got the win, allowing one hit, four walks and no earned runs with five strikeouts in four innings.
Randolph County’s Dalton Spivey had a single and an RBI.
HOKES BLUFF 14, WEST END 3: M Brasher went 1-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and a run, and Hokes Bluff improved to 3-2.
Tanner Rutledge went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Bray Bearden went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Preston Griffith went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, B Davis went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Parker Causey went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Carson Peppers had a triple and two runs.
Causey got the win, giving up four hits, three earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts in four innings.
WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 11, GAINESVILLE (GA.) 7: Wil Chadwick went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run, and Westbrook improved to 3-2. Brady Ryan went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two RBIs and a run.
Brodie Johnson went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Jacob Maples went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Dalton Helms went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Bo Kilgo went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
HARALSON COUNTY (GA.) 12-15, WHITE PLAINS 6-5: The Wildcats fell to 2-3.
Caden Foster had a single and two RBIs in the first game. Beau Madrigal and Mattew Masson each had a single and RBI, and Masson scored a run.
Crew Martin went 3-for-3 with two runs.
Elijah Turner went 3-for-3 with a run in the second game. Keaton Lindsey went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Madrigal went 2-for-3 with a run.
Martin had a single, a run and an RBI.
Softball
OXFORD: The Yellow Jackets improved to 7-1, beating host Ohatchee 8-0 and DAR 7-5 in Saturday’s action in the Taylor Hamm Memorial Tournament.
Jayla Jackson pitched a two-hitter against Ohatchee, striking out seven batters with two walks in four innings. She also hit a solo home run.
Madison Murphy and Jordyn Alexander each went 2-for-3 with two runs, and Murphy hit a double. Charleigh Trotter went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Against DAR, Alexander went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Murphy went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Haleigh Pruitt went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
OHATCHEE: Before falling to Oxford, host Ohatchee (6-4) beat Ragland 7-2.
Jordyn Faulkner went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run against Ragland. Alanah Fitch went 3-for-3 with two runs, and Reese Steward went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Annie Cox had a triple, a run and an RBI, and Madison Mize doubled with a run and an RBI.
Cox pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
Cox and Steward each had a single against Oxford.
PLEASANT VALLEY: The Raiders (3-3) finished as runner up in Glencoe’s tournament, beating Jacksonville 15-4 before falling to Etowah 3-1 in the final.
Hanna Henry went 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a run against Jacksonville.
Janette Turner went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Abby Evans went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Baylee Grogan went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Ellie Patterson went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs, and Alexa Cranmer went 1-for-3 with three runs and an RBI.
Against Etowah, Cranmer went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
JACKSONVILLE: Before falling to Pleasant Valley 15-4, Jacksonville (3-2) beat Wellborn 3-2.
The Golden Eagles prevailed against Wellborn after a two-run bottom of the sixth. Caroline Christopher tied the game with a run-scoring double, and Avery Allen scored on a wild pitch to end the game.
Braelyn Lively went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.
Against Pleasant Valley, Sadie Pate-Whitfield went 3-for-3 with a double and a run, and Jaylen Huntley went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Raybon Pridgen had a single and two RBIs, and Harper Atchley hit a double.
ALEXANDRIA: Playing up in class, the Valley Cubs (1-3) fell to Helena 7-5 and Central-Phenix City 7-3. This a day after splitting two games with Hoover to open the season.
Charlee Parris went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, a double, three RBIs and two runs against Helen. Cali Hess went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run, and Ryan Lumpkin added a double and an RBI.
Boo Boo Bright had a single and an RBI.
Against Central, Parris went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs. Reece Carr went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Lumpkin and Hess each had a single and RBI.
WHITE PLAINS: The Wildcats (6-3) fell to Boaz 4-3. Carli Fritts went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Karli Otwell went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Rylee Smith had a double and an RBI.
CENTRAL-CLAY: The Vols (1-3) lost to Valley 6-5 and 4-2.
In the first game, Socarra Lopez went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Blair Wheeler went 3-for-3 with a run. Lilly McCain went 2-for-3 with a run, and Ensleigh Giddens doubled with three RBIs and a run.
Giddens and Sophia Castleberry each went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the second game. Lopez went 2-for-3, and Analyssa Harris went 2-for-3.
