Lots of softball as area teams begin weekend tournaments. Alexandria edges Piedmont just ahead of Sunday’s Calhoun County baseball seeding meeting and so much more.

Going around the horn for area high school baseball and softball and across the pitch in soccer:
Softball
OHATCHEE: Playing in the Taylor Hamm Memorial Tournament at Ohatchee, the Indians (5-3) beat DAR 9-0 and Hanceville 10-1.
Jordyn Faulkner allowed one hit and no walks in 2 1/3 innings against DAR. She also had a double and two RBIs.
Alanah Fitch went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs, and Annie Cox went 2-for-3 with a double, one run and one RBI.
Reese Steward doubled with two RBIs.
Against Hanceville, Cox allowed one hit with five strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
Fitch homered with three RBIs and two runs. Jordyn Faulkner went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run. Steward went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and Madison Mize had a double, a run and an RBI. Blaze Steward went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
OXFORD 16, HANCEVILLE 0: Also playing in the Taylor Hamm Memorial Tournament at Ohatchee, Jayla Jackson allowed no hits with eight strikeouts in three innings. She also went 2-for-4 with two triples and two runs.
Oxford (5-1) had 16 hits. Cadence Kennedy and Kylee Stephens each went 3-for-3. Stephens had a triple and a double and four RBIs, and Kennedy scored three runs with two RBIs.
Jordyn Alexander went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Haleigh Pruitt went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
ALEXANDRIA: The Valley Cubs opened the season by splitting two games with Hoover, winning the opener 7-5 and falling 6-1 in the second game.
In the first game, Charlee Parris homered, drove in two runs and scored twice, and Jacee Brooks tripled and scored a run. Reece Carr contributed an RBI, and Cali Hess singled and scored a run.
Carr got the win, striking out four batters while allowing four walks, three hits and two earned runs.
Parris went 2-for-3 with a run in the second game, and Ryan Lumpkin had a single and RBI.
CENTRAL-CLAY: The Vols (1-1) opened their season by beating Montgomery Academy 3-0 and losing to Opelika 4-3.
Against Montgomery Academy, Central-Clay’s Blair Wheeler and Lauryn Reed combined for a no-hitter. Wheeler pitched a perfect two innings with one strikeout, and Reed struck out four batters with four walks in three innings.
Lily McCain had a triple and an RBI, and Soccara Lopez went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Analyssa Harris went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run against Opelika, and Chloe Morris went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
JACKSONVILLE: Jacksonville beat Cedar Bluff 11-5 and lost to Etowah 8-3.
Avery Allen hit an inside-the-park grand slam in the second inning against Cedar Bluff. She finished 2-for-2 with six RBIs and a run.
Sadie Pate-Whitfield went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Ana Strain went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.
Chloe Lockett went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Raybon Pridgen went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Against Etowah, Alyssa Barnes went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Harper Atchley had a single and an RBI. Lockett hit a double.
MUNFORD: Munford upped to 6-2, beating B.B. Comer 11-1 and Randolph County 3-0.
Ashtyn Bishop went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run against B.B. Comer. Brooklyn Pressley went 1-for-2 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs. Bayleigh Durham went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.
Madison Arnold had two RBIs and a run and combined with Pressley to allow three hits. Arnold pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts, and Pressley had six strikeouts with no walks in three innings.
Against Randolph County, Arnold pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts. She also went 1-for-3 at the plate.
Chloe Pickette hit a solo home run, and Bishop went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Addyson Britt doubled and scored a run.
RANDOLPH COUNTY: The Tigers (2-1) beat B.B. Comer 18-1 and lost to Munford 3-0.
The Tigers mounted a 14-run first inning against B.B. Comer. Kyndahl Huckeba hit a grand slam and had five RBIs for the game.
Kinsley Weathers went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs, and Emmy Maffeo went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run.
Abi Waters went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run, and Bryer Thompson went 2-for-3 with a run.
Against Munford, Gracie Huckeba, Waters and Maffeo had a single apiece.
PLEASANT VALLEY: The Raiders beat Glencoe 10-1 and Wellborn 15-0 at Glencoe.
Baylee Grogan and Abigail Evans held Wellborn to one hit. Groger struck out four batters in two innings.
The Raiders had 13 hits. Lilly Robinson went 3-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Alexa Cranmer went 3-for-3 with four runs and an RBI. Ellie Patterson went 1-for-1 with three RBIs and a run.
Against Glencoe, Patterson went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and a run, and Janette Turner went 1-for-1 with a double, three RBIs and a run. Cranmer went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Robinson and Evans had a single and RBI apiece.
WHITE PLAINS: Playing at Sand Mountain Park, the Wildcats beat Westminster Christian 7-1 and Sardis 8-3.
Carli Fritts allowed four hits with six strikeouts in five innings against Westminster Christian. She also went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Carleigh-Anne Green went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run. Sara Kate Adams went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Anna O’Dell went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run, and Jaylie Holt had a single, a run and an RBI.
Against Sardis, Adams went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, three RBIs and a run. O’Delll went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run, and Karli Otwell went 2-for-2 with a run.
RANBURNE 13, CLEBURNE COUNTY 0: Ranburne’s Addison Gibbs pitched a complete-game four-hitter, with seven strikeouts and two walks.
The Bulldogs had 13 hits, with several top performers. Shaylie Reaves went 3-for-5 with two of Ranburne’s seven doubles and five RBIs. Rylann Graham went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, three runs and two RBIs, and Hensley Noles went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs.
Carter Martin doubled while going 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Dakota Martin went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Kamryn Jenkins singled with two RBIs and scored a run.
Cleburne County’s L Robinson went 2-for-3.
GLENCOE 13, WELLBORN 9: Glencoe’s A Skinner went 1-for-2 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and the Yellow Jackets got a single and RBI apiece from K Freeman, J Underwood and A Alred. Freeman scored three runs, Underwood two and Alred one.
Wellborn’s Delilah Talley went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and a run, and Addy Bowman had two RBIs. Cassidy Gray went 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI. Bella Nunez and Raelyn Webb had an RBI apiece.
Baseball
ALEXANDRIA 3, PIEDMONT 2: Sawyer Coggins and Jace Loggins each went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Alexandria rallied with a run in the seventh inning and a run in the bottom of the eighth to win. Loggins hit a double.
The showdown of Calhoun County powers comes just ahead of Sunday’s seeding meeting for the county tournament.
Jeremiah Heathcock went 3-for-3 with a double.
Brodie Barber got the win, allowing one hit and three walks with eight strikeouts over five scoreless innings.
Piedmont’s Charlie Sparks and Carson Cleveland each had a single and an RBI, and Ethan Tidwell doubled. Cole Austin pitched six innings, spreading out seven hits, one walk and one earned run with six strikeouts.
OXFORD 2, BLESSED TRINITY 1: Ayden Noyloa’s solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Oxford the walk-off victory against visiting Blessed Trinity, out of Roswell, Ga..
Noyola’s homer was one of Oxford’s two hits, Zach Richardson’s single being he other.
Noyola also got the win, working five innings. He allowed three hits, no walks and one earned run with six strikeouts.
Oxford also benefited from five Blessed Trinity errors.
CENTRAL-CLAY 5, MUNFORD 1: Central-Clay separated with a four-run fifth inning. Sam Harris doubled with two RBIs, and Kamden Mullins had an RBI and scored a run. Ryder Waldrep went 2-for-2 with two runs.
Hudson Foster, J.T. Wilkerson and Harris combined to hold Munford to seven hits and one earned run. Foster and Wilkerson had three strikeouts apiece, and Harris struck out two batters.
Munford got two hits apiece from Braydon Nichols and Christian Fisher, and Fisher drove in the Lions’ run.
Landon Gallahair pitched five innings,allowing four hits and four walks with five strikeouts. None of Central-Clay’s five runs were earned.
The Vols benefitted from two Munford errors.
WINTERBORO 24, FAITH CHRISTIAN 12: Winterboro pounded out 20 hits and benefitted from 14 Faith errors, with William Shepherd going 4-for-5 with a double, five runs and three RBIs. Hunter Hickman went 4-for-5 with two runs.
Kyler Johns went 3-for-4, and Kevin McKinzey and K Garrett each went 3-for-5. Garrett had a double and three RBIs, and Johns doubled with three RBIs and three runs.
Jamari Nicks tripled with an RBI and scored three runs. Khaiyon Robinson had a single, three runs and an RBI.
Faith got 12 runs on four hits and benefitted from four Winterboro errors and eight walks. Levi Wells went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Luke Robertson went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Paul Kaiser went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Soccer
WEAVER BOYS 5, CLEBURNE COUNTY 1: Weaver’s Cisco Nira scored three goals, and Uli Lazcano added two. Gianluca Torres dished out three assists, and goalie Joe Vines had 12 saves.
DONOHO GIRLS 7, SAKS 0: Ranked No. 1 in Class 1A-3A, Donoho (4-2) got three goals from Brooke Vandiber. Lauren Wigley added two goals and an assist, and Chloe Melton turned in a goal and an assist. Hazel Wallace scored a goal, and Isata Sesay had an assist.
JACKSONVILLE GIRLS 7, CHEROKEE COUNTY 2: The Golden Eagles upped to 4-0, with Emerson Weaver scoring four goals and adding one assist. She upped her season totals to 25 goals and six assists.
Lexi Page added two goals, while Willa Kate Walker contributed one goal and one assist. Joeh Kim chipped in an assist.
Goalkeeper Neveah Nicholson recorded four saves, and Grace Boothe anchored a strong defensive unit that limited Cherokee County to two goals.
JACKSONVILLE BOYS, 7, CHEROKEE COUNTY 0: The Golden Eagles (4-1-1) got three goals and one assist from Jack Thomas. Colin Thurman added two goals, while Miles Sawyer and Dion Harris each found the back of the net once.
J.C. Hollingsworth and Judah Jennings each recorded two assists, and Jackson Patterson secured the shutout with four saves.
