HUNTSVILLE — Calhoun County high school wrestling had a good day at the state tournament Saturday. A very, very good day.
Haiden Hise turned the tide with a key pin for his second state title, and Dalton Fink got the clinching major decision Saturday as Weaver’s boys rallied from behind to edge Calhoun County rival Alexandria 156.5-155 and win yet another Class 1A-4A state title.
Weaver’s boys won their 13th state title and fourth in five years.
They also shared the day’s glory with Weaver’s girls’, who became back-to-back state champions a year after claiming the first-ever AHSAA-sanctioned 1A-5A state title for girls’ wrestling. Weaver’s girls prevailed over Alexandria 136-77.5.
Schools from Calhoun County came home with the champion’s “blue map” trophy and runnerup’s “red map” trophy in the boys’ 1A-4A division and girls’ 1A-5A division.
