OXFORD — Savannah Carter led the way with 17 points, and Oxford fought off Homewood 55-53 in their Class 6A Northeast girls’ subregional at Oxford.
The Yellow Jackets (17-11) will play Fort Payne in the Northeast Regional on Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. or noon.
Takayviia Boyd added 15 points, Pashiya Jenkins 11 and Bri Wilson 10.
“Total fight and resilience from my girls,” Oxford coach Melissa Bennett said. “This may be one of the proudest I have ever been. We had three injuries going into the game. Bri got hurt mid-fourth (quarter) and taped it up and gutted it out.
“Just totally heart. Blew a big lead but still just found a way.”
Class 4A, Central girls
TRINITY 53, ANNISTON 49: Anniston’s Liberty Lewis scored 13 points to go with four rebounds, four steals and four assists.
Saniyah Spinks added 13 points with five rebounds, and Summer Flentroy added 10 points with three assists and two steals.
Trinity’s Lilly Smith scored a game-high 28 points.
Anniston finished 18-8.
Class 4A, Northeast girls
PLAINVIEW 63, ALEXANDRIA 41: Charlee Parris led Alexandria with 18 points, and Jacee Brooks added 11.
Plainview’s Sawyer Kate Hulgan hit five 3-pointers on the way to 29 points. Taegen Whitmire added 13 points, and Piper Anderson added 11.
Plainview will play West Limestone in the Northeast Regional on Feb. 18 at either 3 p.m. or 6 p.m. in Pete Mathews Coliseum.
Class 2A, Central girls
RANBURNE 61, GREENE COUNTY 54: Maranda Ralston continued her roll with 23 points, and Ranburne advanced to the Central Regional in Montgomery.
The Bulldogs will play Lanett on Tuesday at 4:30 or 7:30 p.m.
Tinley Phillips added 11 points, including two 3-pointers, and Peyton Smith scored nine.
Kimora Rowell led Greene County with 16 points. Za’Kyia Manning added 15, and Kassidi Smith scored 14.
Class 1A, Northeast girls
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 55, WOODLAND 38: Mollie Mullinax led the way with 20 points and six steals, and JCA advanced to the Northeast Regional.
The Thunder (20-3) will play Ider on Tuesday at either 9 a.m. or noon in Pete Mathews Coliseum.
Modasti Carr added 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Addy Lee had 14 points and 11 assists. Sophie Williams pulled down at team-high 13 rebounds to go with seven points and five steals.
Class 4A, Northeast boys
PLAINVIEW 82, CLEBURNE COUNTY 71: Lyric Ware led Cleburne County with 22 points. Caleb Fields added 20 and Cade Shubert 18, and the Tigers finished 23-6.
