Alexandria’s boys, Weaver’s girls won Super Sectional titles. Weaver’s boys, Alexandria’s girls runners up. Includes complete list of state qualifiers from area schools through two days.

BIRMINGHAM — Alexandria’s boys won the Class 1A-4A Super Sectional at Birmingham CrossPlex, amassing 299.5 points and qualifying 11 wrestlers for next week’s state tournament in Huntsville.

The Valley Cubs’ super sectional victory comes on the heels of a Calhoun County title and a third-place finish in the state duals tournament.

The top six boys and top four girls in each weight bracket advance to state.

Alexandria’s weight-class winners included Alex Le, Ryan Lambert, Ryker Houston, Jaden Whitaker, Dion Guy and Kion Guy. Owen Cromer took runner up in his bracket.

Other qualifiers included Johnathan Santos (third), Ethan Maxwell (third), Chris Jones (fifth) and Riley Bookout (sixth).

Alexandria’s girls finished as super section runners up with 177 points and eight state qualifiers: Elizabeth Hunter (first), Kamryn Buchanan (second), Katelyn Robertson (runner up), Savannah Fischer (runner up), Mia Arcos (runner up), Emerald Hunter (runner up), April Peterson (third) and Marlie Morris (fourth).

WEAVER: Weaver saw eight boys and 10 girls qualify for next week’s state wrestling tournament during the North Super Sectional on Thursday and Friday at Birmingham CrossPlex.

Weaver’s girls, reigning state Class 1A-5A champions, got first-place finishes from Ashlyn Coleman, Ariel Sargent and Heaven Bishop. Ali Anderson, Jaylee Carter, Caitlyn Edmondson and Baleigh Brown were runners up.

Shyanne Scott took third place in her bracket. Sarah Gokey and Ashawie McKinney finished fourth.

Weaver’s girls won the super sectional with 230.5 points.

Weaver’s boys, reigning Class 1A-4A state runners up, saw Gabe Snyder, Dylan Brown, Gianluca Torres, Dalton Fink and Zach Hooks won their weight classes at Super Sectional. Peyton Andrews was a runner up, and Haiden Hise finished sixth.

Weaver’s boys finished second overall with 229 points.

WHITE PLAINS: The Wildcats qualified four boys for state: Lyric Brown (first place), Hudson Ingalsbe (first place), Wesley Beebe (second place) and James Heard (fourth place).

The Wildcats finished sixth overall at Super Sectional with 135.5 points.

PIEDMONT: Piedmont’s boys finished seventh at super sectional with 129 points and qualified four wrestlers for state: Myles Bailey (second), Landon Stambaugh (third), Stacey Marshall-McClain (fourth) and Bentley Chandler (sixth).

Piedmont’s girls finished fourth with 87 points and three state qualifiers: Crimson Elmore (second), Laney Hollis (third) and Ameria Fitten (fourth).

OHATCHEE: Ohatchee’s boys finished 11th at super sectional with 84.5 points and qualified four wrestlers for state: Maddox Tuiolosega (third), Levi Sullins (fifth), Phoenix Tuiolosega (fifth) and Elijah Tuiolosega (sixth).

COOSA CHRISTIAN: The Conquerors finished 18th at super sectional with 59.5 points and three state qualifiers: Zayden Franklin (third), Halen Palmer (fifth) and Graem Keener (sixth).

PLEASANT VALLEY: The Raiders’ boys finished 23rd at super sectional with 39.5 points and one state qualifier: Ayden Pate (fifth)

LINCOLN: Lincoln’s girls finished third with 111 points and six state qualifiers: Jailah McGowan (second), Au’nhyiaa Smith (third), Bragg (fourth), Brooklyn Wigley (fourth), Evelyn Dobbs (fourth) and Riley Stephens (fourth).

Lincoln’s boys finished sixth with 96 points and three state qualifiers: Allen Thrower (second), Hunter Smiley (second) and Joel Gaston (third).

South Super Sectional

CLEBURNE COUNTY: Cleburne County’s boys finished fourth with 157.5 points and eight state qualifiers: Owen Young (third), Cal Shubert (fourth), Connor Causey (fourth), Jacob Biggers (fourth), Zander Martin (fourth), Kendall Miller (fifth), Jackson Letson (sixth) and Tyler Primeaux (sixth).

Cleburne County’s girls finished third with 93.5 points and three state qualifiers: Avalena Williamson (first), Layla Poore (first) and Falon Curvin (second). 

RANBURNE: Ranburne’s boys finished seventh with 98 points and four state qualifiers: Levi Cole (first), Carter Driver (second), Jack Yearwood (third) and Sawyer Freed (sixth).

WELLBORN: Wellborn’s boys finished 14th with 72 points and two state qualifiers: Noah Smith (second) and Erik Medina (sixth).

Wellborn’s finished seventh with 60 points and three state qualifiers: Rosalie Alward (second), Bethany Fowler (third) and Savannah Duncan (fourth).

SAKS: Saks’ boys finished 24th with 18 points and one state qualifier: Tristan Garrett (sixth).
