Oxford boys, girls sweep area games at Pell City. Hope Christian boys, Ranburne girls victorious.

PELL CITY — Marcus Perry Jr. led five Oxford players in double figures, and the Class 6A top-ranked Yellow Jackets beat Pell City 87-28 on Tuesday to finish unbeaten in Class 6A, Area 11 play.

The Yellow Jackets (20-4) clinched area hosting rights last week.

Perry hit four of Oxford’s 12 3-pointers. Jaylen Alexander hit two on the way to 14 points, and Jermaine Caver hit two on the way to 10 points.

The Yellow Jackets also got 13 points from Caileb Wilson and 12 from Chris Latson.

Brody Gossett paced Pell City with 15 points, including three 3-pointers.

HOPE CHRISTIAN 63, COOSA VALLEY 52: Hope’s Liam Avery turned in 22 points, six rebounds and three assists. Tavin Jackson added 11 points and three rebounds, and Carter Slick contributed 11 points and six rebounds.

Girls

OXFORD 46, PELL CITY 44: Savannah Carter led the way with 17 points, and the Yellow Jackets upped to 13-10. Oxford also got 10 points from Pashiya Jenkins and seven apiece from Bri Wilson and Mi’Kynlei Mosley. 

RANBURNE 46, VINCENT 36: Maranda Ralston led Ranburne with 19 points, and the Class 2A fifth-ranked Bulldogs improved to 21-7.

Kallie Burson hit three 3-pointers on the way to 13 points, and Tinley Phillips scored 10 points.
