Jackson moves on

After successful three-year run as Anniston’s head football coach, Jackson hired as Minor’s next head coach.

Rico Jackson is moving on after guiding Anniston to its first state-final appearance since 1994.

The veteran head coach will become Minor High School’s next head football coach, Minor High School announced via social media Tuesday.

Jackson went 27-11 in three seasons at Anniston, making the playoffs all three seasons, including a run to the 2025 Super 7 and a run to the Class 4A quarterfinals in 2024.

He’s 85-70 in 14 seasons as a head coach overall, with stops at Fairfield, Aliceville, Escambia County, Murphy, Tarrant and Anniston. He also led Aliceville to the Super 7 in 2016.

He was East Alabama Sports Today’s Class 4A-6A All-Calhoun County coach of the year for 2025.

He takes over a Minor program that Lost its final six games in 2025, finishing 4-6. He takes over for Adrian Adams, who went 35-47 in eight seasons, including an 0-4 record in four playoff appearances.
