Alexandria boys, girls sweep Rumble in the Jungle at Cleburne County, get a shot of confidence going forward.

HEFLIN — Alexandria’s boys’ and girls’ wrestling teams came away with more than matching Rumble in the Jungle first-place trophies Saturday.

With the Calhoun County Tournament looming Monday on their home floor and bigger tournaments ahead, the Valley Cubs got a taste of what can be.

Alexandria’s boys edged host Cleburne County 228-218.5, with Jeremy Lambert (122), Ryker Houston (128), Hudson Hartzog (134), Jaden Whittaker (140), Dion Guy (146), Kion Guy (152) and Ethan Maxwell (167) winning their weight classes.

Alexandria’s girls edged Cleburne County 151-139, with Kamryn Buchanan (102), Katelyn Robertson (134), Savannah Fisher (140), Emerald Hunter (167) and Ebony Hunter (237) winning their weight classes.
