Jacksonville girls edge Oxford. Faith’s Anderson sinks 11 3-pointers, and Lee leads JCA’s girls with monster game. Smith powers Glencoe boys to victory in overtime, and Alexandria’s girls roll. Weaver, Piedmont sweep area doubleheaders. Cleburne County boys win in Tricounty tourney, and WP boys top Centre.

OXFORD — Neveah Nicholson hit three 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 17 points, and Jacksonville’s girls built onto its resume for a top seed in the Calhoun County tournament with a 48-45 victory at Oxford on Thursday.

“Any time we beat a program of that caliber, we celebrate it,” Jacksonville coach Corey Mize said. “We still have some things to clean up, but we will enjoy this one for the next couple of days.”

Nicholson added eight rebounds and six steals.

Jayci Taylor added 11 points with three rebounds and three steals. Ontarriah Braxton added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Emerson Weaver added four steals, three assists and two rebounds.

MiKynlei Mosley paced Oxford with 15 points, and Bri Wilson added 11.

ALEXANDRIA 60, GLENCOE 36: Alexandria got 16 points apiece from Cali Hess and LaNajia Redwine.

Kate Wheeler added 13 points, and Charlee Parris added 12.

Glencoe got 11 points, including two 3-pointers, from Peyton Gray. Kinlee Montgomery hit two treys on the way to nine points.

PIEDMONT 60, OHATCHEE 33: Nakiya Bothwell led Piedmont with 20 points. Melanie Studdard added 16, and Amiyah Thomas scored 10.

Macie Lockridge hit three 3-pointers to account for her nine points.

Ohatchee’s Emily Riddle scored 15 points, and Payton Walker scored eight.

WEAVER 59, SAKS 34: Aliyah Marks hit 10 of 13 free throws and two 3-pointers on the way to 24 points, and Weaver improved to 3-0 in area play.

Maddie Stanford added 13 points, and Reyleigh Partner added 11.

Saks’ Sania Angel also scored 24 points.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 52, FAITH CHRISTIAN 22: JCA’s Addy Lee outscored the opposition with 29 points. She added nine rebounds, eight steals and five assists.

JCA (8-1) also got eight points apiece from Mollie Mullinax and Sophie Williams. Williams added seven steals, seven assists and six rebounds, and Mullinax added four steals and three rebounds.

Brielle Green paced Faith with 14 points.

Boys

FAITH CHRISTIAN 72, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 45: Colin Anderson came into Faith Christian’s game against Jacksonville Christian locked in Thursday, and Faith came away victorious.

Anderson hit 11 3-pointers on the way to 41 points, and the Lions rolled to a 72-45 victory.

He hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter, four  in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth. He hit 15 field goals overall.

Parker Robertson hit one 3-pointer and finished with 12 points, and Dylan Rogers hit a trey on the way to nine points.

JCA got 15 points from Noah Lee, 12 on four 3-pointers from Will Hudson and 10 with three 3-pointers from Anthony Gooch.

Faith hit 14 3-pointers, and JCA hit eight.

GLENCOE 57, ALEXANDRIA 51 (OT): Grant Smith’s 36 points included four 3-pointers, and Glencoe gave gave its head coach and Alexandria grad Ryan Chambless a victory at his alma mater.

The game was tied 44-44 through regulation, and Smith scored eight of Glencoe’s 13 points in overtime. He hit all six of his free throws in overtime.

Jace White added 10 points, including a 3-pointer and two free throws in overtime.

Cole Wheeler led Alexandria with 17 points, including four 3-pointers. Evan White added 12 points, including two 3-pointers.

WHITE PLAINS 56, CHEROKEE COUNTY 50: Bryson Cheatwood erupted for 29 points, and White Plains got an area victory. Bruce Downey turned in 11 points, 13 rebounds and four assists.

Tatum Perry led Cherokee County with 13 points.

PIEDMONT 88, OHATCHEE 59: Ben Dempsey hit two 3-pointers and led Piedmont with 15 points, and Mason Morrow hit four treys on the way to 14 points.

Eli Johnson’s 12 points included two 3-pointers. Rollie Pinto and Judd Pope each hit three 3-pointers, each finishing with nine points.

Ohatchee’s Alston Carroll hit two 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 19 points. Xavier Luna added 14, and Coleman Fowler added 11.

WEAVER 61, SAKS 50: Phoxton Benjamin turned in 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Weaver picked up an area victory.

D.J. Marbury added 15 points, six assists, and three steals, and Junior Allen hit two 3-pointers on the way to 13 points. Taylor Green scored nine.

Saks got 18 points with two 3-pointers from Jayden Culpepper, and Sean Mial’s 15 points included three 3-pointers.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 64, RANDOLPH COUNTY 38: Cleburne County’s Cade Shubert poured in 24 points, including two 3-pointers, and the Tigers won in the Tri-County Tournament at Central-Clay.

Lyric Ware added 17 points, including two 3-pointers, and Alijah Ware scored seven points, including two 3-pointers.

Randolph County’s Mo Winston hit two 3-pointers on the way to 20 points.

PELHAM 66, ANNISTON 43: Playing in the Hewitt-Trussville Husky Christmas Invitational, Anniston got 19 points with two 3-pointers from Kyrie Lewis. Kaden Brown’s 11 points included three 3-pointers.

Anniston will play Northridge on Friday at 3 p.m.
