Prep basketball

Jacksonville girls improve to 6-1. JCA girls top Spring Garden, and Donoho resumes girls’ basketball. White Plains, Faith Christian, Cleburne County and Southside boys victorious.

SOUTHSIDE — Jayci Taylor poured in 22 points, and Jacksonville’s girls downed Southside 61-26 on Friday to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Taylor also had seven rebounds and two assists.

Neveah Nicholson added 16 points, five steals, five rebounds and four assists. She hit four 3-pointers.

Raybon Pridgen’s 11 points included three 3-pointers.

Zoey McKinney led Southside with seven points.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 44, SPRING GARDEN 22: Modasti Carr paired 13 points with eight rebounds, and JCA improved to 5-0.

Addy Lee matched Carr’s 13 points and added six assists, four rebounds and three steals. Mollie Mullinax added nine points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists, and Sophie Williams had nine points, four rebounds and three steals.

GAYLESVILLE 36, DONOHO 23: Coached by Denzel Roberts, Donoho playing its first varsity girls’ basketball game since 2021. 

Gaylesville got 20 points with two 3-pointers from Lydia Reynolds. Abbie Bishop added six points.

Boys

WHITE PLAINS 46, WEAVER 24: Will Graham scored 14 of his 16 points in the second quarter, including two 3-pointers, en route to leading White Plains to victory. Bryson Cheatwood added 10 points for the Wildcats.

D.J. Marbury led Weaver with seven points, and J.C. Reeves added 10. Phoxton Benjamin grabbed nine rebounds.

FAITH CHRISTIAN 55, SAKS 41: Ean Taft erupted for 22 points to lead Faith. Parker Robertson scored 15, and Colin Anderson added 11.

Saks got 15 points from Jayden Culpepper and 10 from Damarian Adams.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 54, CHEROKEE COUNTY 50: Lyric Ware led Cleburne County with 13 points. Caleb Fields added 11 and Cavin Bates 10.

Cherokee County got 13 points apiece from Tatum Perry and Jayquan Diamond and 10 from Keyshawn Woods.

SOUTHSIDE 58, JACKSONVILLE 54: Ben Pridgen paced Jacksonville with 13 points.

The Golden Eagles (5-2) got 10 points apiece from Braylon Kelley and Kamouri Harmon.

Caden Holderfield led a balanced Southside scoring attack with 13 points, and Carson McGraw added 10. Dylan Logan had nine points.

MT. PLEASANT 65, HOPE CHRISTIAN 54: Javon Vinson led Hope with 12 points and four rebounds, and Kailub Sparks added 10 points, four rebounds and four steals.

Carson Campbell turned in 10 points and three rebounds, and Tavin Jackson chipped in eight points and seven rebounds. 

SPRING GARDEN 55, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 54: Spring Garden hit 10 3-pointers. Noah Carnes led the Panthers with 13 points, including three treys. Brody Bostick netted nine points on three 3-pointers. Eli Bates added eight points, including a pair of treys. 

JCA’s Bryson Dowdey poured in 28 points to go with four rebounds and three steals. Noah Lee added 13 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.
