GLENCOE — Two-time defending Class 2A state champion Pleasant Valley built momentum headed into next week’s area tournament, winning the Glencoe Invitational on Saturday.
The Raiders beat Coosa Christian 25-11, 25-11; Glencoe 22-25, 34-32, 15-9; Hokes Bluff 25-10, 25-11; and Munford 25-19, 25-17 in pool play.
Pleasant Valley beat White Plains 25-22, 25-27, 15-6 in the semifinals then beat Glencoe 22-25, 25-23, 15-11 in the championship.
The Raiders’ top performers on the day:
— Madison Schwabe: 45 kills, three blocks, 14 aces, 67 digs.
— Ella Parris: 46 kills, nine aces, 49 digs, 11 blocks, one assist.
— Ellie Patterson: 33 kills, 23 blocks, 22 digs, seven aces.
— Zalie Curvin: two kills, four aces, 56 digs.
— Elise Wheeler: 126 assists, 27 digs, eight blocks, three kills, 10 aces.
— Cailey Almaroad: three aces, 24 digs.
— Hanna Henry: eight kills, 20 digs, two blocks.
— Avalyn Patterson: seven blocks, three digs.
GLENCOE: The Yellow Jackets finished runner-up to Pleasant Valley in the Glencoe Invitational.
In pool play, Glencoe beat Munford 25-10, 25-11; Hokes Bluff 25-6, 25-10; and Coosa Christian 25-11, 25-12; and lost to Pleasant Valley 25-22, 32-34, 9-15.
In bracket play, Glencoe beat Sand Rock 25-11, 25-13; DAR 25-20, 20-25, 15-10, and lost to Pleasant Valley in the Championship, 25-22, 23-25, 11-15.

JACKSONVILLE: The Golden Eagles reached the semifinals of the silver bracket at Saturday’s Glencoe Invitational.
Jacksonville beat DAR 25-14, 23-25, 15-10; lost to White Plains 29-31, 14-25; lost to Sand Rock 24-26, 16-25; and beat Etowah 25-17, 25-21 in pool play. In bracket play, the Golden Eagles beat Coosa Christian 25-13, 25-17 in the semifinals and Munford 25-16, 25-14 in the final.

DONOHO: The Falcons celebrated a career milestone for libero Bentlee Pahman while finishing runner up in the Supreme Courts silver bracket.
Pahman surpassed 1,000 career digs while recording 29 against Pleasant Valley in the Calhoun County Tournament quarterfinals on Oct. 4.
Pahman called it “an honor” to “leave my mark on a program that has given me so much,” she said. “It’s a great reminder of all of the hard work, memories and dedication that goes into every game.
“I thank my coach for putting me in position to be successful and thank my teammates for always building me up.”
Pahman’s career total stands at 1,159 after Saturday’s action.
As for Donoho’s matches at Supreme Courts on Saturday, the Falcons lost to Priceville 16-25, 13-25; lost to Chelsea 25-11, 20-25, 13-15; and beat Pisgah 25-10, 16-25, 15-8 in pool play. Donoho beat Oxford 25-20, 20-25, 15-12 and Spring Garden 20-25, 25-22, 15-9 before falling to St. Clair County 21-25, 16-25 in the championship.

— Kate Williamon: 37 kills, one assist, six aces, 12 digs.
— Ava Michaels: 23 kills, one assist, seven aces, 25 digs.
