‘Grit and heart’ help Faith Christian sweep trimatch with Oxford, White Plains. Oxford gains split with victory over White Plains.

WHITE PLAINS — Faith Christian swept a trimatch Monday, beating White Plains 25-18, 23-25, 15-9 and Oxford 25-21, 23-25, 15-11.

Faith will carry the No. 7 seed in the Calhoun County tournament, which starts Saturday at Wellborn. The Lions beat the Nos. 2 and 9 seeds Monday.

“Our girls showed grit and heart, continuing to fight for every single point,” Faith coach Michaella Edwards said. “That determination led to two great wins tonight against two strong programs. I’m proud of the way they battled and proved what they’re capable of together.”

Faith Christian’s top performers:

— Kaylee Norton: 21 digs, 44 asst, two kills, three aces.
— Kayson Cronan: 21 digs, two assists, 14 kills, two aces.
— Kolee Cronan: two assists, three kills, two blocks.
— Anna Daniel: 13 digs, one assist, 10 kills, five aces.
— Amy Hubbard: four digs, two assists, one kill, three aces.
— Annie Ricard: 15 digs, 30 kills, four blocks, two aces, one assist.
— Emma Shaw: nine digs, two aces, one kill.

OXFORD: The Yellow Jackets lost to Faith Christian 21-25, 25-23, 11-15 and beat White Plains  25-19, 25-19 in a trimatch at White Plains.

Oxford’s top performers:

— Payton Brooks: 44 assists, six kills, eight digs.
— Preslee Reeves: 11 digs.
— Adriana Bonilla: 15 digs.
— Charleigh Trotter: six digs.
— Ava Thomas: 12 digs, five aces, 21 kills, two blocks.
— Taleah Powell: four kills, two blocks.
— Lana Horn: seven kills.
— Emerald Cole: 10 kills, two blocks.
— Tia Nichols: two kills.
— Maycee Parten: two kills.
