Talkin’ Piedmont

With play maker Pinto as tip of the spear, a reloaded Piedmont team with big sophomore, junior classes looks to keep winning ways rolling.

Editor’s note: This is the 14th installment of Talkin’ Football 2025. East Alabama Sports Today editor Joe Medley will do on-campus interviews at all football-playing schools in Calhoun County. The package will include a video interview, interesting facts and Joe’s take for EA+ subscribers. Today’s visit: Piedmont Bulldogs.

PIEDMONT — With each graduating class, Piedmont High’s wildly successful program becomes more and more third-year coach Jonathan Miller’s program.

The Bulldogs took a giant leap in that direction after last season, graduating 12 East Alabama Sports Today Class 1A-3A All-Calhoun County players.

Senior, three-star recruit and Jacksonville State University commit Rollie Pinto will tip the spear for the team that takes the field this season, but Miller will have a quarterback in Cole Austin that was a promising eighth-grader in Miller’s first season.

Miller will have new starters in several spots, and the former Saks head coach will have Saks transfer running back Nick Mixson to bring speed like that Piedmont hasn’t had at tailback in a while.

Too, Miller’s third Piedmont team seems to carry itself a lot like Miller … quietly confident in its own skin.

Quotes, details, interesting facts about the 2025 Piedmont Bulldogs and a video interview with Piedmont coach Jonathan Miller are available for EA+ subscribers.
