Westbrook Christian boys take second in Class 4A, and Piedmont’s girls finish third in 1A-3A. Piedmont’s Wood finishes tied for 14th in 3A.

BIRMINGHAM — Westbrook Christian’s boys, Piedmont’s girls and Piedmont’s Caden Wood were the area’s biggest winners in the state golf tournament.
The tournament played out Monday and Tuesday at RTJ-Oxmoor Valley.
Westbrook Christian’s boys finished second in Class 4A, shooting a two-day total of 55-over-par 631. The Warriors finished 43 strokes behind Haleyville.
Westbrook’s J.D. Berndt finished fourth at 74-74—148. Haleyville’s Hudson Lawson (73-67–140) was the low medalist.
Rounding out the Westbrooks scorers were Noah Hodgens, tied for 11th at 77-79—156; Cove McHugh, tied for 13th at 81-77—158; and Max Carr, tied for 16th at 81–80—161.
Piedmont’s girls finished third in Class 1A-3A, 164 strokes behind state champion Wicksburg. Rylee Holbrooks finished 12th (107-106—213). Alley Smith 14th (109-121–230) and Reece Kirkpatrick 15th (118-114—232).
Piedmont’s Caden Wood finished tied for 14th in Class 3A boys, shooting 84–84—168.
