Oxford and Ohatchee win, and Piedmont, Donoho and Saks sweep in baseball; Oxford, Alexandria, Piedmont, JCA and Lincoln victorious in softball

OXFORD — Fresh off of winning Wednesday’s Calhoun County final, Oxford got a combined four-hitter from Eli Bozeman, Peyton Watts and Carter Johnson and beat Hewitt-Trussville 4-2 on Thursday on Choccolocco Park’s signature field.
Watts started and worked the five innings, allowing four hits, no earned runs and two walks with three strikeouts, and Johnson pitched a hitless sixth with one strikeout and one walk. Bozeman finished with a perfect seventh inning with two strikeouts.
Forrest Heacock had the Yellow Jackets’ highlight at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run.
Hayes Harrison went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Johnson and Nick Richardson each hit a double.
Oxford, ranked No. 2 in Class 6A in the season’s first Alabama Sports Writers Association poll, improved to 12-3.
OHATCHEE 10, FYFFE 1: Devin Howell went 5-for-5 with a double, three runs and two RBIs to pace the Indians (7-5).
Will Folsom joined the hit parade, going 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Jake Roberson had a double among his two hits with two runs,
Tyler Green, Ethan Jones and Xavier Luna each singled and drove in a run.
On the mound, Bryce Noah and Luna combined for a three-hitter. Noah worked the first six innings, allowing three hits and one earned run with no walks and eight strikeouts.
PIEDMONT 10-13, WEAVER 0-0: First-game starter Brodie Homesley and the second game tandem of Jack Hayes and Cole Austin combined to hold Weaver to six hits.
Homesley threw a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the opener. Hayes worked four innings for the win in the nightcap, allowing two hits and one walk with seven strikeouts, and Austin worked a perfect fifth inning with one strikeout.
Max Hanson was the offensive standout in the opener, going 2-for-4 with a home run, triple, two runs and four RBIs. Jonah Pike had a single, run and two RBIs, and Hayes singled home a run.
Kale Austin went 2-for-4, and Jake Austin drove in a run.
Trevor Pike and Jake Austin led the way in Game 2. Pike went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, and Austin went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs.
Hayes had a double among his two hits, and Cole Wilson singled home a run.
For Weaver, Eli Smith went 3-for-3 in the first game, and Dalton Homesley had a hit in both games.
SAKS 5-14, WELLBORN 3-4: Jeremy Waters pitched a four-hit complete game with five strikeouts in seven innings in the opener and saved enough pitches for the win in Game 2, allowing two hits in 3 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.
Offensively, Trent Hopkins went 3-for-4 with a run and RBI in Game 2. Owen Petty went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs, and Christopher Carter went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.
Waters helped his cause, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs.
In the opener, Petty and Mason Jairrels accounted for Saks’ two RBIs. Hopkins and Jairrels accounted for Saks’ two hits.
Wellborn’s Tanner Ingram had two hits and a run in Game 1, and Ethan Carroll drove in two runs in Game 2.
DONOHO 11-9, SAND ROCK 1-2: Peyton Webb pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts in Game 1. Hayes Farrell and Nic Thompson combined to throw a three-hitter in Game 2.
Lucas Elliott led the way offensively with four hits on the day, including a triple and two doubles. He drove in four runs.
In Game 1, Donoho got two RBIs apiece from Elliott, Marcus Lawler, Thompson and Farrell. Lawler, Elliott. Blake Sewell and Kai Cleckler each had two hits.
Cleckler had a double.
In Game 2, Peyton Webb went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs. Elliott’s drove in two runs.
Lawler, Thompson, Elliott and Webb eacb had two hits.
RAGLAND 4-15, FAITH CHRISTIAN 6-5: Ezra Hill went 3-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run, triple, four runs and three RBIs, and Jake Donaldson went 3-for-3 with a traditional home run, three runs and three RBIs as Ragland rebounded from a Game 1 loss to improve to 8-3.
Drake Kay went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Brayden Byars went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
Jabari Thomas had two hits with a double and two runs, and Ethan Courtney had a double, two runs and an RBI.
Antwan Byars and Jordan Turner combined for a five-inning no-hitter, but Faith scored five runs with the help of 10 walks.
Faith came out on top in Game 1. Carson Limbaugh had two of the Lions’ five hits, including a triple. Brady Whitworth and Kash Sharma each drove in a run. Jayden Smith had a double and scored a run.
Whitworth spread out nine hits over 6 2/3 innings, walking four batters and striking out nine.
For Ragland, Casey Phillips went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI. Hill and Donaldson each had two hits with a double.
COLLINSVILLE 15, PLEASANT VALLEY 12: The Raiders came out on the short end of a slugfest despite three hits and two RBIs apiece fro Samuel Duncan and Holt Bentley, two hits and three RBIs from Zeke Curvin and two hits and two RBIs from Connor George.
Peyton Mann also drove in two runs, and Braxton Salster had an RBI.
Bentley had two triples and a double, and Curvin smacked two doubles.
George and Salster each hit a double.
Softball
OXFORD 15, GADSDEN CITY 0: R Zacherry pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts, and Oxford finished off the TItans in three innings.
Emma Tims-Becerra, Kenlee Rodgers and Adajiah Wilson each drove in two runs, and Tims-Becerra had two hits. Rodgers and Wilson each hit a double, as did Justice Woods and Reagan Sanders.
Woods, Berkeley Mooney and Ashlyn Burns each drove in a run.
Oxford improved to 11-2.
ALEXANDRIA 10, ST. CLAIR COUNTY 0: Pressley Slaton pitched a three-hitter with three strikeouts and a walk. She also went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.
Jill Cockrell and Clancy Bright led the way at the plate. Cockrell went 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Bright was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs.
Allyssa Hunt and Christian Hess each singled and drove in two runs, and Charlee Parris had a single and RBI.
Alexandria is 12-7.
PIEDMONT 10, WELLBORN 0: Emma Grace Todd and Savannah Smith combined to pitch a one-hitter. Todd pitched the first four innings, striking out seven batters. Smith pitched a perfect fifth inning.
Smith had three doubles and scoffed three runs. Jenna Calvert had two singles and scored a run. Cayla Brothers hit a double and single and scored twice.
Armoni Perry hit a triple.
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 20, FAITH CHRISTIAN 5: JCA pounded out 19 hits, with three apiece from Erin Prater, Rebekah Carter, Addy Lee and Kara Grace. Prater hit a home run, triple and double and drove in five runs.
Carter, Payten Walker and Lee each had three RBIs. Walker homered, and she and Cali Sexton each had two hits.
LINCOLN 14, OHATCHEE 9: Marlee Shaddix had two doubles, two runs and three RBIs, and Kinsley Crow went 2-for-4 with a double, run and three RBIs to lead Lincoln.
Emily Moncus homered, drove in two runs and scored three.
Chandler Stephens went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI.
Tabi Davidson paced Ohatchee, going 2-for-4 with a homer, double, three runs and three RBIs.
Mackenzie Luna singled and drove in two runs, and Alyssa Davis hit a solo home run. Ellie Carden also singled and drove in a run.
Alanah Fitch had a triple and a run.
Soccer
SAKS 2, HOKES BLUFF 1: Layla Garcia scored on a game-winning free kick, and Alona Crews scored a goal as the Wildcats improved to 6-1 overall, 3-1 area.
