PELL CITY — Berkley Mooney is on a tear, and Oxford’s softball team is on a roll.

Coming off of her perfect game against Munford on Monday, Mooney pitched a shutout Wednesday, and Oxford beat Pell City 2-0 in Class 6A, Area 12 play.

It marked Oxford’s first victory over Pell City since 2020. The Yellow Jackets are 7-0.

Mooney spread out seven hits over seven innings, walked five batters and struck out 12. She also homered and drove in both Oxford runs in the second inning.

Her home run was one of five Oxford hits. Ashlyn Burns went 2-for-4. Adajiah Wilson and Reagan Sanders had a hit apiece, and Sanders came home on Mooney’s home run.

Oxford will play at Southside on Monday.
