MUNFORD – Connor Morgan hit two home runs in a 10-run first inning that carried Munford to a 16-7 rout of Handley that clinched the area championship Monday night.

Morgan hit a three-run homer on the first pitch he saw in the game and hit a two-run bomb later in the inning. Tyler Stephens drove in four runs with a pair of hits and Connor Fisher had two hits and two RBIs. 

Saks 5, Wellborn 4:J.J. Waters allowed six hits in a complete game for Saks. Rickey Garrett had two hits for the Wildcats, including an RBI single in their four-run third that erased an early 2-0 deficit. 

Weaver 8, Randolph County 3:Rabon Kirk’s two-run double highlighted a three-run first that got the Bearcats going. The bottom third of Weaver’s lineup – Corey Babbitt, Briley Carter and Gabriel Masaniai – had two hits apiece.

Faith Christian 6, JCA 2:Brodie Dodson allowed four hits and no earned runs in a seven-inning complete game for the Lions. He struck out seven. The Lions scored three in the first and three in the fourth. Deon Dupree has two hits for JCA.

Softball

MONDAY’S GAMES
Handley 5, White Plains 1
Spring Garden 2, Piedmont 0

SPRING GARDEN – Abbey Steward scattered three singles over seven innings and struck out nine as Spring Garden blanked Piedmont 2-0.

Savannah Smith, Emily Farmer and Jaycee Glover had the hits for Piedmont. Spring Garden scored both its runs in the fourth inning.

Handley 5, White Plains 1:Callie Richardson went 3-for-4 and Camden Wilson had two hits, but the Lady Wildcats couldn’t score until Richardson singled home a run in the seventh.

Soccer

Munford girls 4, Faith Christian 3:Aniiyah Peeples returned to Munford’s lineup after being cleared from her ACL rehab earlier in the day and scored four goals, including the game-winner in the final minute. Ona Marple, Avarie Daniel and Emma Bohorquez scored goals for Faith.

Faith Christian boys 8, Munford 1:Faith only had 11 players in uniform, but the ironmen excelled. Nic Goodgame scored three goals, Cameron Rogers had two and Jack Strautman, Dristin Wright and Mason Blackston each had one.
