Amira Carter led three Weaver scorers in double figures with 14 points and the Bearcats held Faith Christian without a field goal for the first 10 minutes of the game on the way to a 48-20 victory Monday night.

The Lady Bearcats opened a 15-1 lead in the first quarter and were up 17-2 before the Lady Lions finally scored from the field on Kristin Covington’s 3-pointer 2:08 into the second quarter.

Weaver went on a similar tear in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Lions 15-4 in the third quarter and scoring the first 11 points of the fourth.

“We played like we’ve been off for a week,” Weaver coach Gary Atchley said. “We came in at halftime and tried to fix some things and got better.”

Haley Homesley and Caleigh Cortez each added 11 for Weaver.

Glencoe 53, Pleasant Valley 26: The Lady Jackets (3-0) roared to a 22-point first quarter and never slowed down. Anna Beth Giles led Glencoe with 16 points, while Abby Vice had 13.
