ANNISTON — Damien Dorsey, on administrative leave since Aug. 25, has resigned as Anniston High School’s head football coach.

The Anniston City School Board approved his resignation among personnel items during Thursday’s meeting in an unanimous vote. Ward 4 member Joan Frazier was absent.

Dorsey, an Anniston High graduate, was hired in April and coached one game, the Bulldogs’ season-opening loss at Geraldine, before the board put him on administrative leave. Anniston athletics director Chris Rowe has served as interim head coach since then.

Anniston (1-7), coming off of a Class 4A runner-up finish and first state-finals appearance since 1994 in 2025, got its first victory this season Friday, 22-17 over Lincoln.
